Re the cuts to science and its progeny, medicine, they are diabolical. Why would any leader do this to the detriment of the people? Trump and his henchman, RFK, Jr. should be prosecuted for attempted murder. The decimation of foreign aid has already caused deaths abroad. U.S. cuts will do the same here. The North Country will be particularly affected by Medicaid defunding, which has consequences for both health care and economics. Closure of Glens Falls Hospital would be a medical tragedy. It's also the largest employer in the Park.

The national debt hasn’t been a big problem in recent decades. Even at roughly 100% or a bit more than our national GDP if we compare it to our household budget (which is a bad comparison) we see that we finance a house and a car or 2 for a total of 2-4 times (or more) than our yearly income. It happens all the time.

GWB added $6 trillion or more to the national debt by invading Afghanistan and Iraq. Sure, it happened over 20 years but it happened because of a policy that in the end basically did nothing for us - except sell a lot of munitions and military stuff.

But nobody really blinked an eye because we were seen as a stable nation with stable leadership and the cost of borrowing was relatively low. Good luck with that now.

Hearing Accessible: A note about the Adirondack Theater Festival at the Wood Theater in Glens Falls: "...told me your are going to see The Last American Newspaper July 25-27, so thankyou for that, but I urge you to pick out one more show - a season ticket to ATF would be better - to check out what you have been missing...." SEE Notes Below!

Wood Theater in Glens Falls has Accessible Hearing - don't forget to say thanks!

Hearing Loop: All sections and seats in the Wood Theater are equipped with a Hearing Loop. A hearing loop is a system that sends clear sound to patrons with cochlear implants or hearing aids while eliminating background noise and echo. Patrons can connect to our system by toggling their device to “T” or “Telecoil” mode. If you’re not sure if your hearing device has this capability or need help determining how to get your device into the correct mode, please consult your audiologist. Some devices even offer the ability to change modes on a mobile app!

Assistive Hearing Devices: Assistive hearing devices capture the audio that is being outputted to the audience and feeds the audio stream through the assistive hearing devices. The user of the device uses headphones and can adjust the volume as needed. These devices are available to borrow at the box office.

I think the Liberty Bell’s power as a symbol comes from its solidity, but with the crack that reminds us visibly of the fragility of seemingly solid things. America is only as great as its people, and on the whole, I still believe that most of us still have more in common with each other than we are being made to think. We are solid like the bell, but the crack is there and could get big enough to break us apart if we don’t watch out.
