Dan Stec seems to have gotten the MAGA virus. No vaccination obviously. The symptoms include a thirst for money and power, destruction of any moral fiber in the body and increased lying capacity to the point of being incapable of seeing the truth any longer. Well...maybe that part is a choice.
Thanks for the backstory on the Rogers Island stunt. I wondered about it in the face of seeing a reenactment had recently taken place at Fort Ti using the same arms.
It’s reassuring, I’m sure, for white collar criminals to know that Elise Stefanik has got their backs.
You missed one important item from Stec’s days at the county board of supervisors. He advocated for reducing the reserve fund, which came to pass just before the financial collapse of 2008/9. Low on funds the county deferred maintenance on roads and infrastructure. That decision likely cost taxpayers far more in the long term. The county may not yet have caught up with the deferred maintenance, though thanks to Biden and Dems in Congress funding has been provided to help build back better.
As for his leadership in Queensbury, frankly town departments are professional and effective. On a day to day basis the town runs itself fairly well and support structure helps the supervisor in making reasonable decisions. One person who got little credit during Stec’s time as town Supervisor was Jennifer Switzer who had strong finance skill for him to fall back on. The other great advantage in Qby is the strong property and sales tax base which sets it apart from most communities in our region.
Stec lost me a while back, but the Rogers Island stunt was over the ledge. He and others were willing to sacrifice a traditional bit of historical and educational theater, important to many, to make a dubious argument about something he could have simply fixed. Bad judgement
I am seeing quite often (in the media and elsewhere) a word that is used frequently when describing Elise Stefanik......repugnant! Have to admit I myself describe her with that same word.

If only there was a vaccine….

Sad to see Dan become another MAGA divider. At one time he was a very approachable and pragmatic leader.
I agree with that 100 percent. It’s sad what he stands for now.
I am saddened by my neighbors. It seems mindlessly destructive.

I did forget about that one. I think the town actually implement a tax for the first time right before he left too.
