May be eligible for contempt? It’s time to stop being so wishy-washy about this administration’s lawlessness. It’s a feature, not a bug.
And freedom? John Lewis said it well:
"Freedom is not a state; it is an act. It is not some enchanted garden perched high on a distant plateau where we can finally sit down and rest. Freedom is the continuous action we all must take, and each generation must do its part to create an even more fair, more just society." - John Lewis
President Obama said it best when he said" If I watched Fox News I wouldn't like me either." And the reality is that fear and a feeling of being under attack are the mother's milk of the Republican party. The Trump said on national TV "they're eating the cats" that should have been the end of his political career, but guess what. He went on to say that your kid could go to school a boy and come home having had it sex changed. And they believe that too. The photoshopped MS-13 tat? His supporters believe him and repeat it as fact, so when a few of these ignorant fools armed to the teeth behave like this, you need not look too far to figure it out. Sorry to say but Republican and fear go hand in hand, it is the way they win, and the only way.
We ain’t seen nothing yet. Climate warming is being ignored and promises devastating events. We cannot turn to this government to help prevent or to help its citizens. Time to protest. Join Indivisible.org.
These shooting incidents seem to have become so common that national news outlets do not even cover them. This "fear" of "the others" has been fueled primarily by the far-right wing of the Republican Party and their MAGA media minions.
Seems to me, more and more each day, that Rod Serling's Twilight Zone episode, "The Monsters Are Due on Maple Street", has become a reality in this country.
And now, as of last Friday, semi automatic weapons can be turned into machine guns with their shooting speed---that should make mass killings much easier. Terrifying. Where are we going in this country? And why???
YES, I just saw that ---just the fact that it's IN the "Big Beautiful Bill." I also saw "tanning beds" listed....is this maybe because of his "big beautiful orange tan??" Okay---looked that part up and they want to get rid of the 10% tax on getting tanned in a tanning salon....of course!!! It's much too expensive to tan so much of him and WHY would HE ever want to pay a TAX?????Yes, I'm gagging over all of it......
Consider, the shooter didn't just go and put that holster on when the delivery driver first approached the shooter's house. He didn't just put it on to chase the driver out of the yard. He was wearing that holster while just sitting in his house, probably watching the TV. Just sitting around waiting for the opportunity to use his gun. Imagine if he had one of those "forced reset triggers" that Trump just approved so that the gun operated like a machine gun. Dead delivery driver. Probably a neighbor, too. Or worse, the neighbor's dog.
I put in the last line because some people would care more if it was the dog. MAGA
As a former Adirondack resident, now living in Florida, I can say it’s not free in the multiple ways you discussed. It’s also not even cheap. In fact I’d say it’s expensive as heck.
...I do not believe either of these shooters were afraid: they were just itching to pull a gun and shoot someone. Rhetorical question: Does the man in this video look afraid? If "you" ARE afraid: you don't come out of the house [you hide under the bed] / --homo sapiens: will we ever evolve...
Being afraid does not mean he was trembling in his boots. just that fear is an underlying emotion, brought on by careful manipulation from right wing sources, the fear gets woven in and manifests itself in actions of aggression.
This administration has steadily worked to disable and dismantle the checks and balances designed to protect business, property owners and the population in general, especially if they had enough money to defend themselves. As fas as the head of this administration is concerned, he IS the law. So, to my dismay and horror, I recently found a tiny blurb in the Digest column of the Post Star, under the caption "DOJ deal will end ban on aftermarket trigger". The end of the ban means that "forced-reset triggers, which make semiautomatic rifles fire more rapidly" will be allowed to be sold. And further in the tiny blurb, "The deal is between the Justice Department and Rare Breed Triggers, which was previously represented by David Warrington, Trump's current White House counsel..." Feeding the rage and fear of armed bigots and megalomaniacs is this administation's special delight. It makes terrorizing anyone thinking of bucking this administration's assault less inviting, just like the average dictator does. FREE indeed!
I saw a sign at a state park in Florida that said you should NOT swim with alligators. It really said that. Wondering about the Florida education system now?
This is terrifying. Almost no ability to guard accuracy of elections ("3 lawyers left"). Pray this isn't the final nail in the coffin of our democracy.
Too many white people (unfortunately including cops) have an irrational fear of people of another color, especially African Americans. This is one factor in shootings. Fear is a factor in ethnic hate, a specific social phobia, or possibly an addiction to a bad idea. As a Caucasian, I don't know whether Americans of other colors also share that fear of us. Any input out there? I don't know if any of this comes from viewing many Black athletes on TV. I've been spared some of the worst of this, due to relatives with bloodlines from Africa, Europe, Korea, Native America, and Puerto Rico. Wife's cousins in San Juan call me Rolando. My daughter said I'm the whitest person she knows, two shades from clear.
Good-by North Country tourist business. Good-by Summer jobs in my Clayton hometown. Thanks, Trump. Good-by easily visiting the foreign nation next door, bringing home great Cuban cigars. Sheer genius, alienating our biggest trade partners North & South. No new restaurants with great Mexican food, due to fear of ICE's trying to meet impossible 1200/day quota deadlines. Ice has busted so far 15 Navajo, 3 Puerto Ricans (citizens since 1898), 2 pregnant women, several children, including one with cancer.

Great quote, thank you!

Then there is an item regarding silencers that I read about - with all the flow coming at us - do not remember the details - they werent good!

Beyond the felon's tan - seems to me a tanning salon is kind of a luxury item.
I mean, normally we do have sunshine! (of course not right now - its been raining for days and in the mid-40s!)
Thanks for another great edition, Ken.

I've heard some horror stories about home insurance.
Would you believe $500 per year to $20k in 4 years?
Wow!

He looked more like someone in pursuit.

“All cruelty stems from fear”

"Welcome to the state of Florida. Where you're free to carry a gun." There. I fixed it for them.
“What is so free about Florida?”
Oh, there are lots of free things about Florida:
Like hurricanes — no charge to have your home wrecked and flooded.
High home and auto insurance rates — available to all.
Alligators — freely available in ponds, pools, and backyards.
Bugs — the bigger the better.
Hot weather in summer — free to broil yourself everytime you leave the house.
Bad public health guidance from state-employed medical quacks. No charge.
Florida should change its motto to: “Live free and die.”
I saw a sign at a state park in Florida that said you should NOT swim with alligators. It really said that. Wondering about the Florida education system now?
Welcome to America, where self-described “law-abiding gun owners” aren’t so law abiding.
This is terrifying. Almost no ability to guard accuracy of elections ("3 lawyers left"). Pray this isn't the final nail in the coffin of our democracy.
We seem to be getting close.
