Stefanik is a threat. Full stop. We can do better. We must.

Elise's threats are over the top. Now she is attacking the New York State legal system, a jury of fellow New Yorkers and a D.A. elected by New Yorkers. She has no loyalty to anyone but herself, and is willing to divide us and undermine our government to further her political self interest.

Elise hates New York State. She does nothing but complain about us, except for her occasional fluff photo ops. We need a different representative, badly.

How many adjectives about corrupt, socialist, radical left...about Soros and cartels and biden doing everything horrible and and. ....I attended one of her phone gatherings. She talked about investigating Biden's "failed policy in Afghanistan" and about Hunter Biden's laptops and about our keeping children from chocolate milk about the Northern Border...about saving out country from socialism...about "freedom and democracy"...NOthing about the crimes of Trump, the violence he and she elicit, the lies she spouts, Trump's support of the insurrectionists ("patriots). I was not called on despite my attempts to ask a question: It was mainly a fund raiser and the people who were thanked were mainly from Florida and Colorado and it was a disgusting display of lies, propaganda and hatred. On an aside: right after the talk i read about all the sugar added to chocolate milk in kids' meals...I sent it to her...She is impervious to truth, wanting everyone who speaks against trump to be imprisoned....It was kind of terrible to hear people praising her on the phone call...dangerous to hear the "true believers" in lies and hatred, greed and power.

The last time I was on one of her telephone “town halls”, she didn’t actually answer the questions she was asked. She used prepared talking points and self aggrandizing replies that were insulting.

Speaking of ronald reagan... well the 1980's....

In the late 1970's there were two things that I thought were solid facts in America.

1) Good people would prevail... I thought Jimmy Carter was leading the way. He put solar panels on the roof of the Whitehouse. He was smart. And though I was never ‘religious’ I believed in moral values. I believed Jimmy was a heads above (if anything) a moral person.

2) I also believed in what I had learned in high school that monopolies were bad and that they were bad for America.

I knew there were bad people in the world. People like the leaders of Iran and the Contras, people I would find out we (the CIA) installed as leaders in the government.

Another thing, odd to think about it now, guns for hunting. I thought that even guns were killing machines, if you respected them, were careful and used them safely...they could be part of a fun sport.

Our country had been moving forward. We had a civil rights laws and the Equal Rights Amendment (ERA) was moving through the various states to be ratified. Then ronald reagan was elected. And that wasn’t a plus. Turns out, everything I believed in pivoted.

But still there was not anything as evil as #pos_tefanik. At least nothing I knew.

I am not sure we have had a moral president since 1980. Turns out much of what Jimmy Carter was and believed in was true. Hard to imagine that in the 1970s’ we were on the path to fixing climate change. That if we followed his lead all of our cars and trucks would be getting 50 miles to the gallon... And maybe that would be moot, because we would have even better ways to move around our cities and country.

I know in 1984 stiffy was born and since 2015 she has been codifying her evil.

The arc of history does bend towards justice. It just does so slowly.

sadly

since #pos_tefanikkk's birth I do not see it bending towards, but away.

If she was asking for a fair trial, yes

But stiffy wants the legal system to ignore crimes... and to do so she and the speaker of the house and so many q-publicans are trying to obstruct justice

Good for her! And for that ACC teacher who advised her. ACC is just great. I hope other students find teachers like her. It’s fantastic seeing someone reaching their potential.

Thanks for the beautiful story on Rachel. Just keep moving forward.

You gave us dessert first, tho. The House Republicans should enjoy their time in the sun because they seem to be doing all they can to ensure they’re in the minority in the next Congress. Those 6 reps from the Biden districts in NY must really enjoy the thought of running for re-election with Trump, Marge and Elise hanging around their necks.

Are House Republicans going to drag Fani Willis and Jack Smith in to testify too? I suppose defending the hush money payments to a porn actress Trump had an affair with immediately following the birth of his son is the easy one. Looking forward to the spin on the following indictments. I don’t see how they do it without saying that Trump truly was cheated in the election and therefore was justified in his coup attempt. That should play well with soccer moms and dads.

David Frum in The Atlantic wrote yesterday that Bragg’s charges may be more than just the Stormy payment. It may dive deeper into the fraud. Defending him in this one may get harder once the actual trial starts. But, hey look! George Soros!

I don’t think we know anything close to the whole story yet.

You are right, life is hard. But, sometimes we get "lucky" as Ms. Rachel did years later. Someone recognizes your innate talent, plants a seed and even though the road is circuitous, we arrive squarely in place if life gives us the opportunity. Nice to read this heartwarming story. So glad she wasn't drowned in the swamp.

I also have a specific memory from Lake Placid in 1980. Being a sports fan,I had mailed in for any kind of tickets months in advance. I received tickets to 2 hockey games, ski jump trials, and pairs figure skating practice (if you remember Randy Gardner was injured and he and Tai Babylonia could not compete or practice.) all on Feb 22. There were 3 games played that day, guess which one I did not have tickets for. Every time either team scored, it was broadcast over speakers throughout town. You could feel something in the air and we all made our way to stand outside the arena. The celebration in the street was like Times Square on New Year’s Eve. My specific memory is of the bus carrying the Russian players back to their lodgings. It crawled along or was at a standstill, allowing us to see the players within. They were in a state of shock. Faces were pressed to the window or cradled in their hands, expressions blank with no affectation. We were chanting USA, but they seemed not to see or hear us, i can only imagine what was awaiting them when they returned home. One of the hockey games I did have tickets to was Finland vSweden, so I saw the future silver medal team play and was confident going into the gold medal game 2 days later. Yes, Al Michaels, I do believe in miracles.
