More photos, please! They lift my spirits and drive my motivation. And if you have numbers for the attendance at Glens Falls and Saratoga Hands Off rallies, I’d appreciate it. I hope there was no counterprotesting. That seems to have been the case almost everywhere. 👍🏼💙👏🏼🇺🇸

Hi Miriam,

We estimate between 500 and 700 at each rally in Glens Falls and Saratoga. Some who attended Saratoga put the attendance more towards 1,000. Next time we are going to try to get an actual account! There also was an estimation of 6,000 in Albany. Unfortunately, the local newspapers and TV stations continue to downplay the numbers.

I've always been impressed with libraries. They are so much more than books . Let's keep the lights on, and staffing of our libraries, museums, and public radio/tv stations.

New York State has not voted for a Republican for president since Ronald Reagan in 1984. That’s 40 years ago.

The voters of New York State have made it clear they want a Democrat in the White House.

This report doesn’t begin to fully address the devastation being wrought by the Trump administration on American educational institutions from the libraries and museums, to public parks, to public elementary and high schools, to colleges and universities .

Understand, Trump does not want Americans to be educated. He wants to keep them ignorant. That’s the means and methodology of an autocracy, to deny the people the knowledge and understanding of their rights and liberties. To deny them the ability to control their conditions with the knowledge necessary to create their laws. Such knowledge is real power. It is why our Constitution begins with the words, We the People, with the word people capitalized.

So let’s give Trump what he wants. I call on teachers across the country from primary schools to colleges and universities to go on strike in solidarity. To strike until to people rise up and demand Trump’s ouster.

They are the power. The real power that will overthrow the Trump autocracy and restore the power to the people. The real power of knowledge in the hands of those that know.

STRIKE.

I have stated a similar, but alternate endeavor

Every organization: be it libraries; teachers; democratic politicians; all non-profits

Should be allocating as much as their budget as possible to taking everyone in the hmpy trmPEDophile administration to court.. not just for breaking the law, but for treason.

Smithsonian Museums in DC.. a treasure to be protected. Took in as many as I could while at Ft Belvoir in 88 and early 99.

Trump's ignorance is showing.

His bigotry and gate is oozing...Glad to see the protests. Together we can be so much better than apart. I sand in unity with this movement.

We

The people

Have ceded too much to a moron

Too much credit

Too much power

He is not smart enough to do what we are giving him credit for. Not smart enough to know he is surrounded by evil... and out of his own stupidity... evil is winning

The funny thing about libraries..they represent everyone. I am sure if you searched the catalog of Warren and Saratoga County... you would find there are books by hmpy trmppedo...and books that grovel over him.

Maybe not as many as there are non-fiction books about him.

The problem: his supporters read neither

One has to remember federal grants and funding is (for the most part) money being returned to the states that generate it - - - > through income and corporate taxes.

NYS, it should be noted, pays more than it receives. This is true for most blue states

and the red states are on our welfare rolls.

If in ever interview.. the real questions were asked of hmpy trmpedo.. Questions about why he is doing things, with followups about details and how he came to this: there would be a halo light of his ignorance.

It is telling that mainstream media failed to cover the protests in any meaningful way, while citizen journalists took to digital media like Substack to document the power of the protests. The revolution will be digitized.

Well.....where to start here....

Stefanik deserves the gut punch. She sold us out a long time ago and I'm glad she got what was coming to her.

She hasn't represented us for many years - I actually was at her last in person town hall where the entire front rows were filled with the MAGA crowd which considered themselves to be her personal bodyguards. It was revolting. And of course, she answered nothing.

To see her with her *makeover* having to spend time up here with livestock provides me a good laugh.

I'm a frequent caller - I'm sure I'm on a list of some sorts at her DC office. It does no good of course, but it somehow makes me feel better to call out her lies.

The libraries- as someone stated, trump doesn't want us to be educated. Taking away cultural institutions is nothing to him because he lacks respect for actual culture. I mean, come on, Kid Rock right?

There were so many people on the street Saturday - my heart was full and I admit to crying a few times.

The traffic going by was supportive - whereas in the past there's been some haters. This time it seemed like almost everyone who drove by agreed with our intent. It was so positive and powerful.

We need to stand together. It's all we've got.

Good summary of how the chaos in Washington directly affects our area. I’m very concerned about cuts to the library, it’s our main social and entertainment center, TriCounty literacy services benefit many, as well as the teens and children’s programs and the lectures. We should get our wallets ready to make up the difference.

Trump and his lemmings are determined to dumb down Americans by tearing down and reshaping educational institutions, libraries, museums, art centers, etc. in his image. Just as Orban has done in Hungary, and who Trump idolizes.

I am glad that the majority of the mass "Hands Off" protests and marches were peaceful. I was most impressed by the march down 5th Avenue in NYC, which went on for blocks as far as one can see. There were just a handful of instances, as shown by videos on social media, where Trump supporters tried to agitate those protesters into violence, but most just evolved into shouting matches. Unfortunately, one resulted in a headbutting of a Trump supporter by a protester. The Trump supporter went back into his truck and pulled out a rifle. He was arrested, but subsequently released since it was determined he was within his right of self-defense.

Trump and his MAGA thugs are itching for protests to turn violent and destructive. That would give them the excuse to declare another national "emergency" to the eight he already has declared. But this one, I fear, will be his justification to impose the Insurrection Act and we will see the military in our streets.

NPR's Morning Edition launched a new series this morning, "The State of the First Amendment: The Right From Which All Other Rights Flow". The first episode aired today. It's well worth the listen.

Stefanik will never contradict what Trump says or does. She has shown not one iota of concern what the impact of Trump's attack on Canada or his across-the-board tariffs will have on her constituents. She is only "concerned" about promoting her next appearance on Fox News.
