The report mentioned the seven most partisan members of Congress and they were judged to be mostly Republicans. At least, the only ones I had heard of.

You can maybe make a case that someone like AOC seeks out attention a bit too much and I might agree with you. I can’t really think of many other Dems, but I could name at least a dozen Republicans that seem to be there only for celebrity.

Whatever you think of AOC, she’s also there to pass legislation which is not the case of the “stars” on the right. Boosting their celebrity is Fox which presents itself as a news organization, but is closer to entertainment and disinformation.

Does Maxine Waters or Adam Schiff really get the amount of airtime that Marge Greene, or even Elise, does? Marge was on Hannity and elsewhere a short time ago talking up her national divorce idea. So, I definitely support giving her a platform. “George Santos” for a freshman member seems to get undue time in the spotlight, too.

People that go to Congress and are outrageous get attention. Many more Republicans go there for fame and fortune. Cawthorn put together a comms team and didn’t concern himself with legislative.

The media doesn’t have a liberal bias, reality does.

Ilhan Omar was removed from committees for a tweet she made over 4 years ago. Whatever the beef is with Maxine Waters is probably something she said years ago, too. I wasn’t sure whether she was still in Congress.

Republicans definitely do have memories like elephants. Hannity is probably still castigating Teddy Kennedy for Chapaquiddick and Robert Byrd for being in the Klan.

I can find plenty of people on the right to criticize without hitting the archives.

Your gish gallop of a comment shows me we’re not going to discuss anything. Have a nice day.

Well written. I believe that the news media needs to be much more selective in their political coverage. Stop covering the grandstanders and cover what really matters!

Oh, the Jewish space laser lady who wants to divide us into red and blue states and is such a BFF of Kevin McCarthy’s that she got to sit in as Speaker for the day recently definitely needs coverage. She’s going to feature in a thousand Democratic campaign ads.

I agree with your comments about our Congress and their Pickering. Also feel similar as you about the news reporting. Too many times the news media is making the news rather than reporting the news. The interviews many times involve leading questions from a reporter/news person which stir up controversy. It appears the reporter tries to aggravate the politician into anger so the politician will streak out at an opposing politician resulting in the topic being pitting one politician against another rather than solving a problem to help the nation and the citizens. As you said that is what sells.

If the politicians were paid and evaluated on their productivity, like most workers, they would be fired every month !!

I would suspect you are mostly talking about television and cable here. I don’t believe that is the case with newspapers.

Correct. I was not referring to newspaper reporters. Good catch by you.

Yup. We all know about the Three-Headed Lady in the freak show. But the only time I've eveer seen Chautauqua in print was the morning after Salman Rushie was stabbed.

I believe the news media should be less sensational in their reporting.

As usual ( now), positive reinforcement for poor behavior. Decorum went out the window when Trump started with the insults and name calling. Professionalism is a list art for the Republican Party. If they didn’t get the notoriety, they wouldn’t do it but you are right- they get the coverage so go for it. If doesn’t matter how mean, cruel or low they have to go. Pitiful models for our younger generation because we glorify bullies now.

Yes, the news media have to do their part but in mentioning the outrageous ones they are keeping us informed of the outrageousness of some politicians like Greene & Gaertz.

Good article! Happy St. Patrick’s Day!!!
