Climate change is real and must be addressed, but it can only be successful when the world acts together. At the same time, we must be practical and acknowledge that until real alternatives are developed and in place, we must make decisions that do not do greater harm to our neighbors and ourselves. It's important to focus on climate change, but not at the cost of others. The war in Ukraine is causing in a matter of weeks more harm to the environment than combustable engines in Ukraine. If we are not prepared to help maintain the peace in the world, and recognize that others, (i.e.. Russia, China, Iran) do not see things as we do, then World War III will be a much greater threat to climate change and humanity than fossil fuels.

The interests of early monopolistic corporations like the various East and West Indies companies led to economic empires that built massive wealth for a few at the expense of millions, billions of ordinary people and even small nations for hundreds of years. We are still suffering from unresolved issues of the collapse of those empires after WW2. But even in the death throes of those old empires the mega corporations of today, the great fossil fuel corporations and their cronies shrugged off early attempts at regulation and now we see war after war after war seeded by the “necessary” goal of mass consumption. Far too many of our top leaders are still shaped by Rostow’s theories which were quickly discredited in real world conditions first in Afghanistan then Viet Nam, followed by war in Viet Nam and Afghanistan. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rostow%27s_stages_of_growth

And one of the reasons climate change is not acted upon more is due to the fact that women have no say in politics matters. We need Womens equality internationally as well as the Equal Rights Amendment here.
