I am a firm believer in if you give a person enough rope, they will eventually hang themselves. I could be completely wrong, but I think trump will end up taking her down when he goes down. I hope I'm correct.

Those who attack her ability to serve in Washington have fuzzy memories. A Legislator from the North Country was challenged about her ability to do her job as a legislator when she became pregnant, only it was Kirsten Gillibrand. that was challenged. I believe the shot came from the GOP, not the press. Also, the attacks on the press is not a new tactic by the far right. To publically get tax payers to distrust the press is aimed to stifle discussions and win elections. Just read the old history books to see it. Or listen to number 45 and his sycophants. It is the press that does the early investigations of Government malfeasance. A very important role as we have seen this year again.

Thanks for the fact check, Will. I’d say she’s adopted the whole Trumpian tactic of playing victim to the hilt every chance she gets. But, I think she did it before he even was on the scene.

Stefanik’s feelings of being the victim, of feeling constantly under attack, of feeling persecuted, are a funhouse mirror image of her privileged life.

Contrast with Yvonne Brathwaite Burke, a black congresswoman who at 40 was 1st to give birth while in office. She does not choose to remember negative comments, and you can bet there were negative comments.

Or how many college grads own a $1.2 million townhouse in DC 4 years out of college. Pretty good for a plywood company worker. I was a plywood company worker when I was young and I sure haven’t achieved her level of success. I worked for Clay, Dick, and Roy who came from Kalispell, MT and built the plywood mill in Whitehall. I did a lot of menial work there. One of my clearest memories was inventorying the locker of a millwright I worked with after he committed suicide. I never got the sense of his despondency before it happened, but then I was maybe 18 and he seemed like an old man - though he was likely much younger than I am now. I didn’t know a lot about him but I enjoyed being his go-fer now and again setting up machines. Anyway, I didn’t parlay my plywood experience into a Harvard education, tho I eventually managed an AAS degree from ACC.

The Post story was an example of "helicopter journalism" without the helicopter. That is, Cramer never did the legwork in this district. And the piece should have covered DeGrasse rather than Stefanik. He sounds like her right-wing minder more and more.

Lying about anything and everything when it is convenient, then blaming the press, the left wing liberals, Hunter Biden's laptop, etc. is the REP way of operating now. Lie, claim "fake news, witch hunt or hoax," then deflect and divert the topic. And if Alex "Snake" in DeGrasse is involved, watch for a cleverly crafted, derogatory new nickname to brand the party involved. If you look at her actual record in Congress she's done virtually NOTHING. She's gone from a being nobody from nowhere (and she wasn't from Willsboro, nor had she ever lived there full time before she ran but changed her legal residence to her parents vacation home in time to run for office so she was a true carpetbagger), but when she realized jumping on Trump bandwagon would give her fame and power, she took the bait. The impeachment trial gave her that first major national media coverage and she never looked back. Taking Liz Cheney's position was the icing on the cake. This is the worst type of person to represent our district. Let's hope she crashes and burns with Trump and the MAGA nut jobs this year. Her Harvard classmates disowned her for her obvious power grab and loss of any ethical or moral compass (if she ever had one). Too bad, but she is the worst example of the new REP woman. And she could care less. Any bets that she doesn't run for her seat again? Onward and upward for her. Happy New Year?

Thanks, Will.

Don't let up. We need your voice. Local newspeople like you know Cong. Stefanik like nobody else.

You also know how valuable local papers are for a functioning democracy.

Thanks for correcting the record. The lack of due diligence at WaPo was surprising.

Also, I recall that most of those who mentioned her age at all did so only to underline how impressive it was. If only we knew what Dr. Jekyll would turn into…
