My son lived in New Orleans for 6 years. We used every opportunity to visit, Thanksgiving, Christmas, Easter, spring, summer, fall and winter. It's a city like no other in the US.

It sounds like a great plan. We have spent the past two Thanksgivings in NOLA. Doing it again this year as well as Christmas.

Though this is off today’s topics - the Digital PostStar just emailed a survey form for us to comment on the recent abrupt changes to our long-standing comic sections. They must be reading our Front Page postings… as well as our individual email complaints to them over the past week 🤔

I hope our survey answers bring “Pickles” back to give us chuckles again!

There were many times I advocated for eliminating the comics all together and saving the $100,000 yearly expense. But I was overruled by the feared reader outcry. The outrage over any change in the comics always mystified them. I didn't think most were very funny and I stopped reading them years ago. But I suppose I am in the minority.

I watch For Better or Worse bits and there are a couple others that pop up on MSN - cant remember what they're called - but I get such a laugh out of them.

I get why readers dont want to have them removed.

Have to add - none of those have anything to do with politics!!

We enjoyed the St. Louis Cemetery tour right near the French Quarter.

It has become so "normal" in this country for extremists to call for expelling or murdering innocent, unknown people that they fear and abhor, (and sometimes acting on their beliefs) that the absurdity of being angry and afraid of these "others", just becomes more appalling. It is the same transference that their convicted leader displays every second he opens his mouth.

As for the special holiday light display, (and no, I'm not a Scrooge type person), wouldn't it be more productive to invest deeply in WIFI for the entire county? Just wishing.

NOLA sounds like NYC on steroids. I lived in NYC for 65 years, and yes, it is as awesome as it is stressful, but it also offers a bursting cornucopia of ethnic foods that are rarely found upstate. I'm glad you had the opportunity to feel that explosion of flavor that stays in your memory forever.

It is telling that the medical profession is so stressed, that unsafe working conditions strain and may discourage hopeful candidates who are so desperately needed.

I would argue that New Orleans is much friendlier.

re: the Minerva merger...what stupidity....and who suffers??? the Kids, certainly NOT the parents...the same thing happened with the Fort Edward-South Gens Falls merger. It's all ego, and the parents and residents should be shamed of themselves. Makes no sense!

It has been the same arguments for decades and often comes back to their sports teams. Very shortsighted.

So THAT'S what it is..you're right it's so short sighted. I go crazy every time I see my Glens Falls school tax bill that's a good 30% MORE than property tax bill...not right, especially with stagnant enrollment...under 2000 students in the entire system...UGH!

But they won the state title in basketball last year. That was enjoyable.

Red flags abound with the comment from Morrow! To believe it's ok or advantageous to say such drastic things and be aiming for a state Ed position is beyond alarming.

It is frightening that anyone would not only think something like that, but say it out loud.

Not to be a downer but just this morning I read an article about the concerns the healthcare providers in Louisiana have regarding women's healthcare and their ability to treat, especially when a woman has a non-viable pregnancy. The food may be great but the healthcare for women, not so much.

Yes, Louisiana is a red state so there is that. Of course New Orleans tends to be blue.

Yes, in Louisiana a woman cannot get prenatal care until she is in her 2nd trimester. And if she has a miscarriage, she will not be treated until she is seriously ill/dying. I love New Orleans and visited often when I lived in MS. I was very thankful though when my son, who is Active Duty AF, and his family were recently transferred from Louisiana to California.

I can definitely understand that.
