Dennis, you jump into this singing along, singing a different tune and you expected what? No matter where you go sing a different song then the choirs is singing and the nail that sticks up gets hammered down. Stressful??????????

Which one? A point singularity.

Sedition Stefanik is auditioning for an audience of one. Above everything else, self interest is her primary concern. One does not have to be a rocket scientist to understand what she is doing. Her goal is for the diabolical sociopathic narcissist to named her as his running mate. For that she will sell her soul, discard those she is supposed to represent and ignore her pledge to defend the Constitution.

Well said!!!

In 2022 54 Republicans holding elected office in Warren County publicly endorsed Stefanik. In 2020 I believe it was 50. You can find these lists or lists from other counties by Googling “Elise Stefanik endorsement” and the election year and county you are interested in. It seems likely Stefanik’s election staff will be compiling lists for this election cycle and if she runs for office again those list will be published - assuming that local Republicans are still willing to publicly endorse her. I was surprised at how far down the election structure Stefanik reaches, touting endorsements from Highway Superintendents. I haven’t seen endorsements from Animal Control Warden, Coroner, or Library Trustee, but that may be next. It shows how well structured her campaigns have been and how much money she has for paying staff to build those lists across the many counties of the district. It might be worth comparing those lists from election to election to see how tight a hold Stefanik has on your local government.

Expand full comment

I read through the list. One of the Wash Co Supervisors has since seen the light, only one as far as I know. I wish the Republicans who have seen the light would speak up. Guess I'm dreaming. Early in my time as Town Supervisor, I got a call from her for endorsement. Later, when I threw my hat into the ring, she asked the Town Clerk to send her as much information as possible about me.

Expand full comment

I suspect your experience provides insight into the reasons so few Republicans speak out about her or Trump. Intimidation and fear. It is not political philosophy that holds Republicans together as a block because on paper Republicans stand solidly with the Constitution and rule of law. But in practice we have seen extreme cowardice in terms of Republican action to defend rule of law. They know how crazy some MAGA are. They hear the threats in private conversations with constituents, friends, and family. It is the classic playbook of totalitarianism.

I’ve carefully reviewed lie after lie of Ms Stefanik. The facts are obvious. I’ve never insulted voters . I have tried to inform. Where do you stand on lying?

It depends on what your description of is is . I mean what your description of lying is. Did President Biden lie when he said he never spoke with Ukrainian officials involved with Hunter? Did Dr. Fauci lie when he said the Covid Vaccine prevents Covid? Did Andrew Cuomo lie when he said sending Covid patients to upstate nursing homes is safe? "Plausible deniability" opened the door for allowing lies without accountability. Every politician lies once they're in office. Senator Gillibrand supported the NRA when she was our district Congress Rep. Biden was racist when first elected and the beat goes on. Candidly, we're not in Kansas anymore. The world leaders are tempered by life experiences. A nice guy, like Jimmy Carter, are relics and would be destroyed like Judge Kavanaugh. A student he allegedly "felt up" in high school got big time media play on CNN, MSNBC, etc. He was no more a sexual predator than you or I.

The political process has always involved gaining money and power. But with some exceptions, the process has adhered to the values of the rule of law, respect for our justice system, and acceptance of election results. But no more.

We need to understand that the Republican Party, and other Trump supporters, are literally at war with Democrats. They are at war with our country's basic values. From their perspective, there are no rules anymore. There are no principles, except personal gain.

I can only hope that a rational. principled response to the Republicans' quest for illegitimate dominance of our political system will be successful. The alternative is unthinkable.

Expand full comment

"The facts are simple." Our Elise has but one concern, and that is Elise. She has shown us time and again that she will say literally anything for that vice presidential scepter. Wondering what it is that so endears her to the North Country, I suspect it may be only that she has put us on the map. Perhaps recognition, when you haven't much else, is enough. Throw in a soupçon of fear-of-other (women, migrants, dark skins, non-"Christians,") and lo-and-behold, there's her electorate.

Honor, morality, and truth are the losers. Oh, and so are we!

Wendy, I like your question, like isn’t the correct word, there are others more on point, I just don’t know them at the moment. My question to you, what can the democrats or someone new offer the North Country people to garner their vote?

Expand full comment

They can start by promising to never lie to them. Stefanik has failed mightily in that regard. That’s all I want at this point. Someone who will tell the truth.

Expand full comment

I'm not a Democrat, so I don't have that answer, but knowing that the makeup of the next House is likely to be a majority by only a handful in either direction, my vote as an independent would come with strings attached that NY-21 and the North Country in particular would need to be well taken care of in order for me to sign on.

I can also offer that I would be happy to discuss particular votes and strategies about legislation with our constituents. I realize that I'm far more left personally than the district is as a whole, but on issues that aren't near and dear to me, my voting will look more like the people sending me to Washington.

Brian, you my friend are not ready for primetime. My suggestion to you, if you are serious about politics, start at the shallow end and swim out to the deep end. Start at the local level and see if you have the temperament to play the game. Just like any sport, watching and knowing some of the rules does not mean one can step on the field and play the game. There is the tendence to believe we can do things just because we think we can. That might work in the movies just not in the real world

Unless I missed it, you don’t even have a website. After reading several of your posts I wonder what’s your game? You seem a bit lax on the rules of campaign finance.

Your chances of winning are slim to none. The Bread Guy failed twice, and since then Snow White has grown fangs, she does look like she is putting on a bit of weight. As a side note if a woman should ever ask you,” do think this make me look fat?”, hide, it’s a trick question. There is no way of answering that question without sticking your foot in your mouth

Next there is Tedra Cobb, I called her foot in mouth. Rather harsh, her little slip I don’t believe cost her the election, although at first, I thought it did. Watch it NY-21 Tedra Cobb Teen Talk 5-18-18 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GALyezAPwZk after time marker 1:48 she says something about believing assault rifles should be banned but if she comes out and says it she won’t win. She tried twice and lost.

Then came the guy that looked like he was hunting Matt Castelli CIA. No, not Culinary Institute of America, the CIA, the guys you don’t want knocking at your door, come to think of I don’t think they knock. Final someone that can play the mental mind game at her level, when he debates her, she will be bouncing off the wall trying to find her way out of the room. Just one small problem, she never debated him. Proverb what is the sound of one hand clapping, like a debate when only one of the participants show up.

Matthew Funiciello, Tedra Cobb or Matt Castelli anyone of them, if they decided to reenter the game, have a better chance of winning than you have. If you think I am wrong, there is a simple way to find out. Reach out and ask them, they have been there, see what they have to say. You have nothing to lose and everything to gain, their experience with the process.

Expand full comment

I appreciate the criticism. Now I'm going to tell you why I think it's misguided.

First off, you're absolutely right that I'm "not ready for prime time", but that's absolutely an advantage in this race.

The only reason why Stefanik has any popularity in the district is because she has attached herself like a lamprey to Trump. We know that Stefanik is fake and a polished politician that hides on Fox News and away from the voters.

However, Trump represented something else to NY-21. They thought he "tells it like it is" and "was an outsider" and "couldn't be bought". The voters here thought that he was AUTHENTIC, and they lapped it up.

Even though my politics are the furthest left in this race, I can connect with voters and listen to constituents and vote how my district wants me to on most subjects. There are some things that I will work to convince my constituents that they should see the same way as me (uncapping the House, uncapping Social Security taxes to keep the program solvent, codifying Roe into federal law, etc.).

Where Castelli and Cobb failed is where I will succeed. Castelli wasn't willing to get dirty in the corners or the crease. He was a good and noble man, but he didn't treat the election as though the nation's future was on the line. He wanted to win the 'right' way. I want to win by any means necessary within the rule of law.

Cobb tried to be a politician. I'm personally opposed to assault weapons - that's why I don't own any. I'm in favor of gun control, but that's one of those votes that I'll ask my district about. I'm elected to represent NY-21, and if they do the right thing and send me, I'll do the right thing and represent them. Cobb blinked. I won't.

Funiciello made the mistake of trying to win a three horse race. He was alright on policy, but was content to let the Democrat be Stefanik's real opposition. I have already been banned by Steve Holden on Twitter. I've told him in no uncertain terms that bringing his carpetbagging milquetoast moderate ass up here to the North Country after getting blown out by Tenney last time just means Elise wins by 20 points.

This needs to be one on one, and I need to shame and fight Elise and make her look as stupid and hypocritical as she sounds. Populism but from the left. I'll have the voters under 40. If I can peel off 15% of Republican voters that realize Elise is fake and does nothing for them, I think we have a real shot at pulling the upset.

I have zero name recognition and no money. I have a bare bones website.

https://brand.page/brianforny21

If anything here resonates with you or someone you know, I'm happy to come talk with you. I work full time in Massena, but I'm happy to put miles on my car on my days off to defeat Stefanik.

Are you with me or not? I hope you will be, but I am going to fuck up that insurrectionist that takes $174k per year from her taxpayers to do nothing in Congress.

First, honor and truth. And then, a candidate, no matter the party, must offer the North Country:

1. enable good health care - stop threatening the Affordable Care Act and Medicaid.

Incentives to attract doctors and nurses to practice here

2. improve educational opportunities - better pay for teachers, more enriched courses,

better guidance counseling re college possibilities and job skills training.

3. Job training for currently un- or under-employed

4. Tax incentives to start good businesses locally

5. Not sure how to do this, but over the long term, a political leader should try to dispel fear of "Other." Doing well is not a zero sum game.

When I saw that you were writing about hypocrisy, I thought it might be this. Well, I guess she’s just got so much of it hanging out there to pick from.

This is from her weekly propaganda email. I’m really surprised she hasn’t removed me from the distribution chain yet. Apparently, the DOJ is not “weaponized” when they’re going after Andrew Cuomo.

For the record, I’m all for them pursuing miscreants of all political stripes.

<This week, the Department of Justice (DOJ) found that disgraced former New York Governor Andrew Cuomo created an illegal and hostile work environment filled with sexual harassment, abuse, and assault. Cuomo was also found to have retaliated against the employees who spoke out against the harassment. While Cuomo and his deranged sycophant enforcers are desperately trying to resurrect and rewrite their heinous legacy of lies, innocent lives lost, and rampant abuse, the DOJ confirms that Andrew Cuomo is a corrupt criminal who illegally harassed women and retaliated against them while Governor.>

Also, wanted to include this bit of trash from one of her diatribes.

<These Democrats are running this lawfare and election interference to help Joe Biden, who is so lost that he wore his hard hat backwards. And they don't care that they are destroying our country in the process.">

Snopes looked at the hard hat BS. Turns out it was not backwards, it belonged to a UNION construction worker (not the scabs Trump hires and hangs with) and it was in Wisconsin for a celebration of construction of a bridge going up as a result of the infrastructure bill passed under Biden’s presidency. Infrastructure week was a running joke during Trump’s presidency.

Some interesting and one disturbing articles on the front page of the Chronicle for Jan 25-31

The fun ones first “What is Siplon’s strategy?” I’m not sure he’s thought it thru, build it and they will come? No guarantee of what will come nor what they will do when they get here. Then there is the Bread Guy, he’s back. Matt Funiciello ‘Covid vaccines unsafe’, says ‘science ignored’ to favor ‘massive profit’. I see the smoke rising, don’t smell the bread burning do I have the flu or covid, neither one it’s a head cold. I wonder if Matt is tuning into Russell Brand, comedian turned political commutator the spinner of truth.

Now the one is of no fun. “Human trafficking form drew thong” full page article on page 24. While Ken and Will are locked in mortal combat with the dark ones, it looks like they missed what may be happening in their own backyard.

Well, when your congressional representative, upon whom you pin hopes of honesty and integrity is "lying trash" who gives aid and comfort to the enemies of the people's Constitution, and who is supported by prominent citizens, business people, politicians and, worse of all, the local press, it is really hard to know who you can trust. Sefanik has not read it; it she had she would not be calling those that participated "hostages". You're right. Defense corruption has been a problem throughout history. Regardless of the state or leaders, there will always be those tempted by greed who feel they can profit. In the US, an employee of Envistacom LLC, recipient of a large amount of defense funds and subsequent fraud, was indicted as well. Should we not fund our own military because of it? Even Operation Illwind didn't end it. Important things to note here are the theft was of state funds, not foreign aid (which has been determined by federal agencies to have never been misdirected); and the actors were caught and funds seized by the SBU. Another note pointed out in the article you may have not read, is that this was discovered by Ukrainian authorities last May, yet for some reason makes US media 8 months later, well into the crime's prosecution. Hardly breaking news. Justice takes time. Eventually all frauds, insurrectionists, domestic terrorists, thieves of national security information, election interferers, sexual abusers and various other ne'er do wells and criminals of other designs are found, tried, convicted and imprisoned for their crimes. The same will be true in this instance.
