Re: Stefanik: breathtaking. How does someone get to the point of utter irrationality? It seems an act, something so craven that it is contemptible. If not, has she gone insane? It does not bode well for us, either way.

I could not agree more. I do not feel as though Rep Stefanik represents my beliefs and I lament that so many in this district feels she does.

The through line between your essay on Nixon/Trump/Stefanik and the brief bit onn administrator Taflan is the necessity of government officials, elected and appointed representatives - especially those who swore an oath to defend the Constitution, to follow the law.

When I read the emergency order issued by BOS Chair Geraghty I was certain it was unlawful. I consulted some people ( including attorneys) and considered filing an article 78. I consulted the NYCLU and was told they had already filed suit against similar laws in Rockland and Orange Counties. A judge has agreed with the NYCLU on those suits, therefor it seems the order the WC administrator defends in his guest essay is likely illegal.

The sad part is the order was never necessary, and if they had consulted the full BOS, Chair Geraghty and administrator Teflan could have taken a more effective, less divisive, course. They did not. They broke the law.

The easy part is welcoming the migrants with open arms. The hard part is figuring out how to have the services in place to accommodate the influx of migrants. We can all agree the migrants will need social services.

She and the rest of the MAGA crew will "Stand by Trump" until had can't stand any longer because they are weak and need to manipulate his base (which is their own at this point.) Stefanik represents her own agenda only. She will jump on the next band wagon as soon as a seat is available.

No surprise that Rep. Stefanik is sticking with Trump. Anyone who still believes that the last presidential election was stolen will believe anything. No, I take that back. I'd don't believe that Donald Trump, Elise Stefanik and many other MAGA members actually believe the election was stolen. What they do believe, is that nothing, nothing should stand in the way of the path to power. Whether it's trying to swap out electors, improperly influence a Secretary of State or Vice President or incite a mob to violence, the path to power, in their view, has no bounds. But perhaps the third branch of government, the judiciary, will provide the ultimate check that the framers of the constitution envisioned. For the sake of our democracy, I hope so.

I've been re-districted and am now a constituent of Stefanik. I am appalled that she joined the T**** camp and keeps posting these ridiculous statements. If she really believes the nonsense that she's posting, she's seriously deluded.

Carol, welcome to our misery. Maybe we can unelect her.

Stefanik is playing with fire.

I totally agree with you. What is even scarier is her followers here in the 21st district believe her, and it does not look good for possibly unseating her...

I certainly agree. It's apparent Stefanik wants to be Judge and Jury rather than waiting until the truth comes out during a criminal trial. She should remain silent and focus on more important matters she has control of (maybe she's lost control though). And here all along I thought she was 100% behind the Police and our court systems. She's "cherry picking" and forgot all fruit orchards have good fruit and bad fruit.

Stefanik was born 10 years after Nixon resigned. IF she read anything about Nixon, she'd probably say he did nothing wrong too.

Dear Ken, I agree and it is so scary to hear comments from as high a ranking Government official like her, truly scary but just look at the support he is still getting Country wide in the polls - I respect everyone's right to their opinion as I would hope they would be of mine. I don't know which one scares me the most is almost more than I can handle at this time. I just pray that the Country survives this crisis.

I agree

I apologize but I meant to add a PS that I truly hope our Judiciary in this Country will help us through this situation.

Criminals stick with criminals. She's in denial, hoping that subpoenas and indictments aren't handed around like lobbyist gifts at the Capitol. Her knowledge or involvement, if any, will come to light during this, or any future Jan 6 or wire fraud charges to be brought.

Watergate, From what I have read.. republicans supported Nixon right up until the polling did not.

now the polling doesn't support trump, but the polling of the fractional maga base does

I saw an interesting post about Target caving to 'anti-woke conservatives' the post say how the caved to a small percentage.

That is a major difference from Nixon

He was guilty --- he recorded

trumpty dumpty seems to be guilty (he too was recorded) and #pos_tefanik is depending on the polls to protect both

Now as this relates to #pos_tefanik, I don't think she will change her tune, but she will play at lower volume.

It's the republicans who aren't saying much, as so as they see 70% of the country wants dumpy trumpy in jail (dems and republicans).. you will see lots of republicans fleeing the sinking ship

Know that the people who are the happiest about the indictment, are not democrats it is any republican who is running for president... and republicans in districts that are not big don the con supporters

The choice is between believing the DOJ is corrupt or that Donald Trump is corrupt. Trump paid fines for a fake charity and a fake university before even entering the WH. He also likely spent decades laundering money through his business (speculation on my part obviously).

I think Occam’s razor would clearly point to the side that’s corrupt. It’s no surprise Trump’s crimes continued to escalate as he gained the power of the Oval Office and invulnerability to prosecution of the presidency.

Jack Smith had his work prosecuting war criminals interrupted to bring justice to Trump and justice for our country. To allow Trump to walk as Nixon did and Republicans are urging in this case would do irreparable harm to our democratic republic.

I don’t know what happened to Elise Stefanik. Maybe this is some brilliant political move on her part. I’d rather believe it isn’t. Smith has likely put together an airtight case against Trump. The charges in the documents case are going to contain sordid details and the January 6th case is going to be worse. My question of why Stefanik didn’t contact Trump on that day to stop the attack remains open.

She can continue to post infinite flag emojis, but the cult of Trumpism seems to be winding down. Almost imperceptibly criticism is being directed towards him and his followers are starting to accept that they need to move on. It’s still a cult and it’ll probably still not end as peacefully as we’d like, but it is ending.

It’s too bad for Elise Stefanik the position she’s choosing for the finale. ETTD.

I guess my next question is why laws should not apply to Donald Trump, particularly when it comes to safeguarding classified material. You would someone on House Intelligence would have a little more respect for it.
