I'm so glad you got yout keys back and con't have to use uber anymore. I never cared for Stefanik, I've seen her lies when campaigning. She is completely self-centered.

It is nice to hear that someone turned in the key fob...

in a political world of stefaniks..it is nice to know the peasants she represents still do the kind and right thing

I completely understand being frustrated that a package was tampered with. This is why we send checks, not cash, in the mail. (Remember getting birthday cards with cash in the mail as a kid?). This story shows the system works, though. The Postal Service itself caught the attempted theft. I am signed up for informed delivery, where I get an email each morning from USPS that has pictures of all the mail expected to arrive soon.. It is pretty nifty, you can even report mail that didn't come just by checking it's picture. I have huge admiration for the postal service, I think it is amazing that for 60 cents or so, you can drop something in the mail and fully expect it to reach it's destination in a reasonable amount of time l. I have lived in countries where it was hit or miss your mail would get there, but our postal system works great, delivering six days a week. Maybe our Congresswoman can advocate for an expanded budget for the postal service; it is very underfunded

You are absolutely right. USPS is greatly unappreciated. They handle 45 billion pieces of mail.

As a letter writer, I couldn't agree with you more.

And like many of us in a small town know.. a full name and the town is l likely enough to get the letter delivered.

there is a story about how a guy who hung out a lot at the Waterhole #3 in Saranac Lake had a letter delivered to him there.. And the sender didn't use the guys given name, but his nickname.

Love those kind of stories.

And as a newspaper guy, you know the line

"Too good to check"

I think the Waterhole Story is true.. but the only confirmation I have had are from people who, probably heard the story from the same sources I did.

Stefanik (or, more likely, her aides) posts the same rhetoric on her Facebook page. Her followers lap it up like a dog returning to its own vomit.

Today on Twitter she is concerned wth the military having to take the Covid Vaccine. I wish I could take a vaccine against Stefanik. She certainly is more dangerous. It's disgusting watching and hearing her clawing her way to the "top" while discarding common decency and common sense in her climb.

Expand full comment

Side thought on this.

For what ever reason a soldier decides that this is the vaccine s/he won't take (after all the others), and they want to step down from the military --- well it should be pointed out...

When did a military ever do well with soldiers who did not follow orders? Should a soldier be allowed to not wear a helmet or put rounds in his gun, because they didn't believe in it?

That they don't believe in the science of how the military works??

I am glad the republican party wasn't around during WWII

they would have been siding with Germany... hell trump would have had dinner with Hitler

and stiffy would have told the soldiers not to get vaccinated and drop out

we know that stiffy cares about her loss

not I.D. theft of others

We know she doesn't use a local bank

We know her staff doesn't know how to do online deposits (though taking these to the local bank (that she doesn't support) would be better

We NOW know more about her backing practices -- than we do her staff.. who could be at fault

--- worst of all, we remember

that she has a history of lying. Short of putting on a polygraph, I have a problem believing her.

========

I guess stiffy has gone past tolerable lies at this point. Considering she stands with don the con tearing up the constitution (did he want to flush it down the toilet*); Stealing federal documents; colluding with Russia --- it is hard to see her find a lower spot in the gutter

That said. I find it hard to believe anyone would support herschel walker -- A liar, hypocrite and even more of a carpet bagger than stiffy.

Stiffy has become that comic relief criminal in an Austin Powers movie

* once I saw the picture of stefanik's name in the whitehouse toilet, I realizd those who would support corrupt stiffy, would also support corrupt Hershey.

Almost every time stiffy cries foul

like when supposedly someone left a note "Rot in Hell FASCIST PIG"

(https://www.newsweek.com/new-york-elise-stefanik-far-left-1491117) and she didn't take it to the police

Wants to investigate Hunter Biden for using his family position (pointing out the irony that stiffy doesn't want investigate gun lobbyist mattie manda and his ties to the #ny21 representative)

Or this non use of a local bank..

Imagine the benefit to #ny21 economy if:

• she used a local bank

• hired staffers from #ny21

Imagine the leg up #n21 youth would get if stiffy recruited her interns from the district

founding

When Stefanik goes ballistic it is almost certainly for political effect. There is a conservative bias against the postal service going back to Abolition. Franklin established a policy of free mailing of newspapers in the colonies as a means of distribution of information. Early Abolitionists founded their own presses and mailed anti-slavery newspapers to people in the South. Southern slaveholders were not very happy with this and there’ve been conservative attempts to weaken or privatize the service ever since. As a party leader in the coming Republican dominated Congress I expect to see Stefanik push for hearings and legislation that will weaken the USPS.

In my experience the Post Office has been exceptionally reliable but I did have an experience early in the pandemic with a customer from southern PA repeatedly having a deposit check he mailed to my business returned as “undeliverable.” I started wondering if it was the customer trying to scam me in some way when he emailed pics of the envelopes then asked for my bank routing number to do a direct deposit. He mailed it a 4th time and it came through. Later I started seeing stories about DeJoy having sorting equipment dismantled and there was a particular effort in PA relating to mail-in ballots.

According to the TU article: “At least $32,000 was contained in the packages, according to the campaign, with nearly $20,000 unrecovered. Most of the money was recovered from the first package in June. In June and three times between late October and early November, the campaign sent bundles of checks from its campaign office in Glens Falls.”

The June money was recovered BUT 4/5 months later👉her office MAILED THEM AGAIN after theft in June!

THAT is the definition of insanity.
