Stefanik has started her daily barrage of lies through her emails again, yesterday it was regarding Democrats letting non-citizens vote, and where she get's this crap is beyond me, but the GOP must send a reminder a day to scare the crap out of your constituents even if it means making things up. I don't understand how after she tells one lie after another anyone still supports her. Same for the entire GOP, based on a narrative that things are horrible in America and if we would just get back to who the hell knows when we'd be fine once more. And it works like a charm.

She has been doing the lying a long time, so I guess people just like what they hear.

“President Trump has delivered the most successful first 100 days of any American president in history." Stefanik statement.

She should cling tightly to Donny Two Dolls. I believe she and the rest of the bootlickers are going to fool fewer and fewer people all the time. Empty shelves, increasing prices and declining investment values don’t lie. Only gaslighting reps do.

There must’ve been some ketchup on the walls of her shack in Schuylerville after she heard Mike Waltz is getting the penthouse.

Thanks for the tidbits on what a poor co-worker she is. Not sure which cage fight I’d rather see, her against Mike Johnson or Mike Lawler for guv? Maybe both. 🤔

Although not a New York resident, I very much enjoy Mr Tingley’s Substack (my husband grew up in Plattsburgh). I do wish to point out an error in the section regarding loss of health insurance coverage. Where “Medicare” is referenced it should read “Medicaid”. They are different programs: Medicaid covers children, pregnant women, those seniors in poverty, and some other low income adults and is funded jointly by states and the federal government. Medicare is an entirely federal program that insures senior citizens and some people with disabilities or end stage renal disease.

You are absolutely right. I'm always getting the two confused, but I do know the difference so I will get that corrected.

I've spoke many times of my personal disdain for Elise Stefanik. I feel she's a pretty lowly human being. I recall being at the Washington county fairgrounds and literally being close enough to say hello. She is my Congresswoman. I actually was going to say hello. It didn't go that way.

My youngest son was with me. He was to my left side back several steps back. A County Deputy stepped between where Congresswoman Stefanik was. He glanced back over his right shoulder at me. The situation clearly communicated to me I was to close. I stepped back the opportunity to introduce myself had slipped away.

I had called Congresswoman Stefanik office to get assistance in getting my son's certificate of citizenship. I never got any call back. Nothing. A picture of Trump graced the Latham INS office. A guards comment that day that.. Essentially saying to me your white I'm white. As I changed my son's diaper. I'll get you away from THOSE people was the clear message. I was appalled and offended. 2018 or 2019 this happened.

I sit here thinking I feel bad for her in ways.

Snubbed pushed aside and yet....

Her insistence on security has always been a bit puzzling. I remember her last town hall meeting in Kingsbury - I believe in 2018 - and there was a lot of security and I found it odd that one of her big local supporters who I was friendly with decided to sit with me the entire program as if he was assigned the job of babysitting me. Very weird.

Tim performed my niece's wedding a few years ago. it was easily the best wedding I have ever attempted. Tim gave a wonderful speech at the beginning of the ceremony that captured my niece, my family, life in a small Adirondack down + the excitement of the moment. the next day he was on his way to China to cover the Olympics. anybody else would have been wholly focused on the upcoming trip, but Tim gave the performance of a lifetime and paid incredible attention to the task.

Stefanik always attended the Friday night Milking Contest at the WASH CO fair, especially during an election year. Not only did she bring her own security detail, deputies from the Sheriff's Dept were there as were State Police. If I remember correctly, one year an employee of Social Services, who also served in a prominent position of the Washington County Republicans, was there serving as a bodyguard. If she chooses to run for Governor, I have a hard time thinking she could carry downstate. Just to be safe, let's hope it doesn't come to that.

I worry about downstate, remember the City voted for Eric Adams, although a Democrat, he was former police (you know, law and order, blah blah blah). This political climate is so unpredictable that I am extremely worried. I have said before and will say again, Hochul must be primaried. We need the strongest Democratic Candidate to win against Stefanik or really, any GOP nominee. Lawler is a pretty slick politician and I don't like him any better than Stefanik.

Yes Mike, that's why we need a strong democrat to challenge hochul. I am scared to death that our once reliably blue state is getting more and more purple and politicians like stefanik and lawler will govern as if its deep red.

There are already signs inc a LARGE one on a back road on Argyle for CONSTANTINO FOR CONGRESS in NY21. He's that ultra MAGA guy with a sticker biz in Albany that got in trouble recently for signage on buildings. Meanwhile yesterday in Mechanicville there were hundreds (don't believe the NYT news biased article of 100, there were many more!) Protesting AGAINST Elsie, the COWard. She is once against promoting a convicted felon!! We did the shuttle from the parking area to the venue she was in and people had driven from Saranac, Latham, Ballston-- that's a measure of how much #SeditiousStefaniQ is loathed here. Her FB has changed from mostly adoring fans to a very high ratio of those who hate her *policies*. Her X account was always more against than for her and now it is almost ALL against . I'm not a yuge Hochul fan and think we should look for a dynamic Dem to run, and SUPPORT THAT PERSON-- Dems have a bad habit of ignoring candidates and we cannot afford that now.

And so the assault on public broadcasting begins, with Trump’s lawless executive order:

"President Trump signed an executive order Thursday directing the Corporation for Public Broadcasting's board of directors to "cease federal funding for NPR and PBS," the nation's primary public broadcasters. Trump contends that news coverage by NPR and PBS contains a left-wing bias. The federal funding for NPR and PBS is appropriated by Congress. The executive order, like many that have been signed by the president, could be challenged in court." (NPR)

This is analogous to what Viktor Orbán did in Hungary to help execute his authoritarian agenda and suppress its free press.

As experts in authoritarian leaders warn, never obey in advance. They also tell us that the authoritarians' appetite for power, control and wealth is insatiable. One can never permanently ingratiate themselves with the leader, no matter what gifts, what personal sacrifices and how much of your soul you abandon. They will always demand more and more and more. So, Elise, will you stay on the right wing MAGA track or wake up and realize that you've been abused, discarded? Sadly, I think I know the answer. What a shame.

Cuts to Medicaid will devastate our healthcare system. Margins are already thin.

Nursing homes are already on the verge of insolvency and it seems likely thise in rural areas will be shuttered. The effects will snowball.

The irony is, with the money we already spend on healthcare we could have a national universal system.

No matter how much humiliation Trump dishes out to Stefanik, her sworn oath of total fealty to him remains. Trump butchers her last name at public events. Trump nominates her for a prominent Cabinet post, then realizes he needs her to remain in Congress to serve his desires to further destroy and dismantle America's institutions and democracy, pulls her nomination. And, as a good and faithful servant to Trump, she still stands by him. Maybe this should be called Stefanik

Stockholm Syndrome.

I had a chuckle when I read that Mike Johnson said that he had talked to Stefanik about her run for governor, then Stefanik vehemently denied that it happened. Honestly, I think her fellow GOP colleagues have tired of her and what Johnson said out loud is what so many of them are thinking.

How can people who need and rely on the very services that funding from the Federal Government provides and that both Trump and Stefanik are gleefully "defunding" still support them both?

Last night, Trump issued another one of his edicts. This one is to remove funding from NPR and PBS. Each and every morning nowadays, I dread what the news is as to what Trump did in the dark hours of the night.

But, then again, that's where evil lurks. In the darkness.

"North Country Public Radio reported earlier this week a new poll showed Rep. Stefanik the favorite to win a Republican primary to run for governor, and would be competitive against incumbent Gov. Kathy Hochul. That polled showed her trailing the governor by six points in the general election."

In the 2022 gubernatorial election, Hochul received 53.2 percent of the vote, while Zeldin received 46.8 percent. Not a landslide, but still a decisive win.

True, Hochul is not as popular as some previous Democrats, like Cuomo. But no one should inflate Stefanik’s chances against Hochul, especially when Stefanik has a weaker base in populous downstate than did Zeldin.

If Stefanik does receive the Republican nod for the 2026 governor’ race, does anyone think Republican will engage in self-defeating second-guessing, or will they go all out and support a morally- and ethically-challenged candidate in an effort to win?

Hochul will be the Democratic candidate in 2026. If Democrats want to win against Stefanik, they need to stop their navel-gazing and go all out to support Hochul.

All too true. But it seems as though Democrats are always waiting for that one special hero who will ride in and "save them" in some way. In doing so, they fail to rally around the candidate they actually have. If Stefanik is nominated, be sure that Republicans will rally around her, irrespective of her weaknesses. I fear that Democrats will fail to unify, always waiting for someone "better."
