I understand that most people are very conservative in her district. To me that means, they also would not stand for this type of profanity and lying. The question every voter should ask is what has she done for her district. And it is no more or less than any recent representative except in one area - she has increased the political divide with her nastiness.

Carl, I’m with you until your last point. I think you have to be careful about your description of every Democratic candidate in such broad strokes. Saying all Dems are for unfettered immigration or non-citizens voting is something that is just not true. Those are Republican talking points. You will find that most upstate Democrats are moderates at best and many are right of center. Bill Owens was a moderate. Kirsten Gillibrand was a moderate who even opposed gun control when she was our congressperson. Carrie Woerner is a Democrat who takes many conservative positions. But many people will vote for the GOP because they hear that is what every Democrat will do and I think that is short-sighted.

My concern is that the current trend from GOPers like Stefanik is that they demonize All Democrats when the upstate incarnation is not that much different than their Republican brethren. She tries to frighten people into voting for her rather than being a candidate of ideas to solve problems.

Well, I have a sign made especially for her. Maybe if she sees it can also be used against her, she'll stop and think. MAYBE. It's worth a shot.

I refused to allow my children to use the word "suck" because of the vulgarity. I also didn't allow the word "hate' because it was an extreme expression for dislike and hoped they would rethink what they were really saying. We have moved into a world (since Trump) of accepting vulgarity, a lack of decorum and making fun of people like a school yard bully. We are living in a country where adults are calling people names. Respect and dignity no longer valued by 39% of the population. It is just stunning to me. Our vote needs to say "This is not who we are and not who we want to ever be."

As I see it that is exactly what this congressional election is about. It is about right and wrong and how we behave and unfortunately Ms. Stefanik has been behaving immaturely at best, un-American at worst.

No, Ken, I disagree, this is not juvenile behavior. It's violent behavior. And Stefanik has embraced violence since the day she overlooked Trump's Access Hollywood rhetoric. It's dangerous. It's not farting. It's creeping authoritarianism. Please do better. She fundraises with Trump, who choreographed a violent attack on our Capitol. Raised millions post January 6th, embracing lies and armed insurgents. Please.

Julie, you make a good case and it certainly is another step in that direction.

I agree.. pointing to this sign isn't juvenile behavior, no more than when her campaign recruited the Adirondack Deplorables to come to her speeches in 2020 to stand in opposition to those protesting stefanik's lies.

or when she stood up and attacked the FBI for retrieving stolen (CLASSIFIED) documents from mar a lardo. I suspect stiffy even knew of these documents because of her many trips there... don the con is a bragger and I am sure many saw those documents.

stiffy is part of treason, part of evil

She’s counting on no thought R votes across a mostly pro Trump district.

This is true. I still hold out hope that there is a core group of North Country people who still believe in right over wrong.

Ken, thanks for explaining what the 3 words meant, I hadn't figured it out, Thank God - - I guess I am not in the right generation although I'm certain there are those in that generation that would not be using that type of, shell we say jargon.

My grandchildren, who ought to know a thing or two about it, say "this is just like middle school."

And Elise is part of the GOP "leadership?"

That's what the call the person with the most whoopee cushions.

It says a lot about who Elise Stefanik really is and what is important to her. She doesn’t care if she looks like a silly schoolgirl.

I've been reading "Confidence Man," Maggie Haberman's book on Trump. Her descriptions of White House staffing and decision-making are appalling; when WH staff and GOP leadership weren't trying to undo Trump's nuttier ideas, they were engaged in serious, knives-out, infighting. Just like middle school (where I was the one who was bullied).

Ken Tingley - you are spot on as to how Elise Stefanik is treating her campaign and disrespecting the people of the North Country. One thing that appalls me even more as I drive around Washington County are the signs that use the American Flag as a substitute for vulgarities. It is scary as to how little respect there is for our country and all of the nonsense supported by individuals like Stefanik and lack of recognition of the atrocities committed by those involved in the January 6th attack on the Capitol and Donald Trump.

Spot on Ken ~ She is a merchant of hate. Hate is a word that if ever used in our home when I was young and growing up, would result in rather severe punishment ~ was as much prohibited as any swear word. And here is a member of Congress (along with many more) promoting it. How times change!

I can’t imagine a politician actively encouraging people’s hatred towards themselves. Traditionally all the best politicians, at least in person, have been able to charm even their detractors. But then, Elise Stefanik is not a good politician. She’s a demagogue like her mentor in Mar a Lago.

I’ve seen a pickup truck around queensbury/glens falls with those words spelled out in bold red letters…I’m all for freedom of speech/ expression- but really?…unfortunately, most of the GOP have followed Trump’s lead down the rabbit hole of lies, crassness & prejudice.

ES is one of his acolytes. Unfortunately with redistricting I can no longer vote her out. I can only hope that those who still can do so, will.

Gone are the days of the name "statesman" and yes there were many who served honorably. What we have in their place is a middle school mean girl with the likes of Marjorie Taylor Green, Lauren Boebert and Elise Stefanik. What a waste of an Ivy League education. Worse is the example she sets for her son.

Exactly. I suspect The Albany Academy and Harvard College are not exactly touting her as being an honorable and outstanding graduate. I also have the same thoughts about her son as you. What a horrible example she is as a mother .
