I wonder if the Founding Fathers knew what a cult was and how it could destroy democracy like a cancer?

Listen to the June 9 episode of On Point on National Public Radio for a sobering discussion of the reasons our current gun measures aren’t working. Follow the money.

If nothing else strikes people of Stec's tone-deaf political hackery, this oposition to common sense gun safety measures should ring loud and clear to his constituents to vote him out of office! Aren't we all tired of pathetic "thoughts and prayers" when what is needed--required--are real solutions? Both Stec and Stefanik herald 2nd Ammendment rights to justify their brazen disregard of the safety and freedoms of their constituents to live without fear of massacre in schools, supermarkets, churches and entertainment venues.

I think most of what the state decided to do is reasonable and in fact workable. And there is no constitutional right that civilians can wear body armor. The red flag laws are necessary, and with care due process rights under our NYS and US Constitutions can be assured. I do take exception however, with microstamping. It sounds good, may be something to strive for, but today's technology is frankly still not up to the challenge. We need only look at California. Studies are finding after shooting a firearm wear does takes place, and in a short time the microstamping becomes unreadable. I think the state should be applauded for acting. I do think we also need to secure our schools, examine the drugs we have been giving our children for emotional and other disorders as there appears to be a connection. I just wish we could explore and work together in addressing the many problems facing our community and nation without the incessant attacks on people or vilifying those we disagree with, and with civility focus more on issues and possible solutions to them.

It's a shame. We have to wonder how big the numbers are of the extremists in their base, that they feel compelled to constantly kowtow to them. I think less than they seem to think. As a long time gun owner, I don't see anything here, or anything done in recent decades that "infringe" upon my rights in any significant (or even minor) way.
