That captures Sterling precisely!

Spent many summer evenings sitting on the patio with my husband listening to John & Suzyn on the radio. His calls were sometimes corny but made us chuckle. He will be missed.

On October 19, 1974, I was a freshman at RPI. I just started there after having taken a year off after high school to get my head right. I’m crossing 15th St. in front of the student union, and a car swerves, almost hits me, and stops. The guy in the backseat rolls down the car window, pot smoke billowing out of the car, and I see its a friend of mine. He says, “Dave, we’re going to Union College to see a show. We got an extra ticket, you wanna go?”

I asked, “who’s playing?

He said, “A guy named Bruce Springsteen.”

I said, “Never heard of him.”

My friend, big music guy who ended up being a long-time DJ at WRPI, said “He’s better than Dylan.”

I thought about it for a second, but at that time I was very nervous about my studies. So I declined. I regret that decision to this very day.

So happy for you! Springsteen is a great performer and a good person.

Always enjoyed his music as I would sing along loudly in the privacy of my car when I would go on long trips!!👍

My doggie Bella never really understood , just lay calmly next to me in her Carhouse!!

I am so impressed with the Glens Falls Revitalization projects - the art mural shown in that link is beyond beautiful. Nice to see a place being made better!!

I'm not a baseball enthusiast, but who doesnt LOVE Bruce Springsteen!

I always read every one of your articles - whether its something that personally grabs me or not - because there are so few journalists - actual true journalists that still do the job they signed up for.

Thanks so much, Ken

Ken, I like how you refer to Bruce Springsteen as "Bruce." After seeing him in 30 concerts, and following his (and his band's) music for almost 50 years, I suspect you know him better than many fans do. I also suspect that, as it does for me, music helps keep you young.

Agreed! It is a life force. And Bruce Springsteen may be the greatest of those life forces. My many descriptions of the experience over the years are hollow imitations.

Lucky you! He’s a VERY good man!
