Trump beat Harris in Warren County by 1,507 votes, about 4 percent -- 51.5% to 47.5%. It's not a huge margin. Not a whole lot of people have to be persuaded they made a mistake to have everything swing the other way in the midterms. A Democratic Congress will be able to block Trump in many ways.
Your coverage of this Ukrainian couple’s courage and perseverance, in pursuing critical surgical procedures for their son, deepens our awareness of the ongoing sacrifices required by survivors of a war without imminent end. To have survived… and to have integrated as fully contributing community members…and now be further traumatized by the threat of deportation…would have been unimaginable in the not-so-distant past.
Their education in the legal profession, yet willingness to work in far less prestigious jobs to support themselves and ensure optimal education and health care for their son, demonstrates true citizenship, and serves as a role model for some home-grown Americans…those who choose to rely on “welfare services” while wearing their MAGA hats
and contributing $$$ to tRump campaigns to keep him out of prison.
Thank you for shining light on this family… which hopefully will lead to financial contributions which can provide legal support to keep them in our community indefinitely.
What an incredibly cruel country we've become. And yet, if you can afford the $5 million dollar gold card (yet to be determined who profits from that money) you're welcomed with open arms.
"It’s hard to imagine as Americans we are tolerating this — allowing our government to tear away the hope our government gave these good people."
It’s such a simple guiding principle, yet quite profound: Treat others as you would be treated. It’s a tragedy that it’s ignored so often, especially these days.

See the article in today’s New York Times Sunday that allows you to see how many jobs will be affected in Warren andWashington County by Trump tariffs in a negative way . 600 or 2% of the jobs in Warren County 1100 or 7% of the jobs in Washington
County. Nationwide a much higher percentage of jobs lost or threatened will be in counties that voted for Trump. The meantime, the Rich will get richer.
Think of every unprintable negative word you can and that’s my comment on Trump and all his goons. Every day he rips another good thing from the arms of Lady Liberty. 😢😡
Right now they’re being fed a line that the new golden age is here, but I hope that as things get worse and worse there will come a point where the cognitive dissonance is just too great, and Trump’s supporters will start breaking away and turn against the whole MAGAverse. The Trump administration is now saying there will be the “detox” period of pain before the full benefits of their (I shudder to call them) policies can be felt, so they’re setting up their followers to accept some misery in the name of making America great again. For a while at least, hardship will be seen as a patriotic duty. We will have to see how long they can be duped.
Trump’s personality cult is a strong one. And a portion of Trump voters will, I think, stand by him no matter what.
But historically, voters blame whomever is president for economic hardships like persistent inflation, expensive housing, and government chaos. I think there are many Trump voters who aren’t part of his cult, and are likely to blame him directly if things get really bad. The question is, how bad will it have to get?
My hunch is they will line up for cups of Elon’s Ketamine-laced Kool-Aid before MAGA minions will ever admit they were wrong in following their false god(s).
“Better Red Than Dead” was a commie mantra from the 50’s…when McCarthy-ism was in full force… urging incarcerations of “un-Americans” who dared to speak out against corruption.
Can’t find the website… but Musk has admitted to taking Ketamine in the past “for depression”…if drug tox screens were done on him/tRump and many of these new appointees it might prove they shouldn’t be allowed to drive Teslas…let alone run a government.
I applaud Ken for doing this piece. Everyone in this country needs to appreciate that families like this need to be welcomed to the Land of the Free and the Brave!
This really puts a human face to all that is going on. 45/47's continued backing of Putin and his treatment of Zelensky is to me disqualifying. Not to mention his battling with our allies, threats to annex Canada, Greenland, and the Panama Canal. We the people must continue to fight him every step of the way. Those that voted for him need to take a hard look and ask themselves "is this the type of fascism that they voted for" and if the answer is NO, then stand up with the rest of us against him. He must be stopped.
The list of cruelty of Trump and Musk is long--for immigrants from Ukraine and Haiti, and Afghans who helped our troops and had passes to come here before being stopped by Trump, by stopping USAID and literally killing the millions dependent on it for humanitarian aide (food, medical), for firing 100,000 workers who were doing their jobs, for us all dependent on their work for social security, Medicare, Medicaid, for preventing plane crashes and dangerous foods and weather warnings and the destruction of our home, our earth..the list is long and painful in terms of their power and greed harming so many. Thank you, Will, for your caring and empathy..
Many who support these policies do not recognize the hypocrisy that their actions are contrary to: “do unto others…,” basic humanity, kindness, empathy, compassion for others, and many other human qualities repeatedly taught in the Bible.

“A nation of sheep will beget a government of wolves.”- Edward R. Murrow
The cruelty of this Administration is their point. It’s what they ran on and it’s what their constituents want. There will be blood.
What does it mean to be human? To treat others as human—with compassion and kindness. To do otherwise is to be less than human.

People do t like to admit they are wrong.
That is for damn sure.
Not very bad, I think. If it stays about where it is, I think the GOP will get shellacked in the midterms.

Actually, this one was from Will Doolittle. And I agree, he should be applauded.

Thank you for the article on the Ukrainian family. Please keep us updated on their story. It makes it much more personal to hear their journey.
