Mr. Tingley, what you said about people looking for someone to trust is absolutely true. If they sense that their source lacks integrity, that trust evaporates, as is evident by how many people view corporate media these days on both sides of the political spectrum. You and Mr. Doolittle have integrity, and it is a most precious attribute!

Thank you for that sentiment. I think as journalists in Glens Falls we always tried to do the right thing and make sure folks in the public sphere were held accountable for their actions. Hopefully, that gave us and the newspaper credibility.

Brad Lander was acting lawfully in demanding to see a judicial warrant. Without a warrant detainment is akin to kidnapping. Lander himself was kidnapped.

The insidious policy behind this is two-fold. Formerly, before Trump, ICE was not allowed to detain subjects in courthouses, at schools, or houses of worship - for good reasons. Trump changed that.

Then Trump instituted a policy that is a trap. Immigrants are told to attend a hearing where charges against them will be dismissed. They must show up to court. When they do, after charges are dismissed, ICE arrests them.

It is the devious work of evil.

Absolutely, evil indeed! It is this administration's "reign of terror" against the most vulnerable in our society. Anyone opposed gets assaulted and unlawfully kidnaped as you note.

These masked, unnamed thugs give rise to others who may impersonate police (Minnesota) to kidnap and/or kill others. They barge into schools, churches, hospitals without ID or showing their faces. This has to stop. The idea that there are so many "criminals" in the migrant community is so far fetched, why in hell do so many believe this crap? If I truly believed any of the lies this regime tells, I would be afraid to go outside of my house.

People are afraid. They listen to news and friends who reinforce their fear.

As Frank Herbert wrote in Dune: “Fear is the mind killer.”

Or Rage Against the Machine: “Fear is your only god.”

You can tell a lot about a person by what it is they fear.

I believe you can tell the most about a person by how they interact with or try to govern others

If the only way you can lead is with fear and intimidation, then you are a person that exist without morals. And the essence of what should be feared.

The upside to Dear Leader’s parade is that it turned out to be an American style parade and not an authoritarian goose stepping parade. He wants the people to fear our military.

The millions that turned out for No Kings protests was the cherry on top.

“The only thing we have to fear is fear itself.” I hate it when great quotes become clichés. So, I’ll add Seneca’s “Sometimes even to live is an act of courage,” which makes me feel so inadequate.

I’m afraid Seneca was being a little high minded on that one. I suspect continuing to live is often more an act of inertia, at best.

Law Enforcement is at a moment right now.

The moment of no longer being the purveyor of law and order, but just the opposite.

Without warrants... without reasons and without authority they are breaking the laws the are entrusted to uphold. This is the same for gQpedos politicians like pos_tfnKKK who are not protecting the constitution, but protecting the political criminals who are destroying democracy.

This is highlighted by the Minnesota assassin.. who has not been called out by republicans...It would seem they would at least point out right now impersonating law enforcement is a major problem.

Especially in light that ICE and other organizations are arresting people without warrants and reason. Springing from unmarked cards, dressed as criminals.

We are living in a society where our rules and laws are being ignored... with grave consequences. An those who should be trusted.

Can not be.

It seems the Board has not acted on your complaint because they have adopted the Trump Approach: Deny-Deny-Deny and do nothing and hope it goes away. If not they can always adopt Trump Two: go on the attack and no matter how valid your complaint may be, put you on the defensive and attack your character and you as a malcontent. Works for him, why not them.

I'm not questioning the integrity of local voting, you walk into a polling place, identify yourself, sign your name & they give you a ballot. Proceed to the designated area & fill it out, proceed to a scanner and feed it through, all this is witnessed by the volunteer workers and any inspectors present, they have no control to what happens once your ballot is put through the scanner. It's what happens after that is where my concerns arise. Read the linked article to see what I mean. With all that was taking place during the campaign I felt it was strange that Harris got 6.25 million fewer votes than Biden received in the preceding election, did all those voters just stay home? Odd isn't it. Please read the attached article link.

Every day (if not minute by minute) I think about how supposed good people are allowing bad things to happen to innocent people...

how the 'good people' are showing they are truly evil and how they allow their hate to consume them

First they came for the socialists, and I did not speak out—because I was not a socialist.
Then they came for the trade unionists, and I did not speak out—because I was not a trade unionist.
Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out—because I was not a Jew.
Then they came for me—and there was no one left to speak for me.

Initially, Niemoller did not oppose Nazism. Later he saw the error of his ways, confessed to that fact, sought forgiveness, and spoke out against the evils of Nazism. Thus, his famous quote (above). A profile in courage—that is lacking today.

"ICE agents were told to continue immigration raids at the businesses Trump said he was going to protect."

Our elders receiving long-term care at home or in facilities, or needing such care in the future, are going to suffer. Axios is reporting this today:

"Immigrants play a crucial role in taking care of some of the most vulnerable Americans — and now they're being pushed out of the country. / More than 41% of home health aides in the U.S. last year were foreign-born, according to unpublished data provided to Axios by the Labor Department. / 22% of nursing assistants are foreign-born, and 28% of personal care aides."

Despite what the Trump administration claims, there simply aren’t enough workers in the U.S. to care for our elders. And his polices are making things even worse.

I have to wonder exactly WHO US voters think is doing these jobs - hard, laborious, low pay jobs! THEY dont want to do the work - so it appears they dont want anyone else to do it? As the first magas coming forth (sort of) saying "they didnt vote for this" - now we will hear the whines and moans when their parents/grandparents are not getting care, when there are less and less fruits and vegetables, meat products in the stores. I really doubt this "group" will step up and take immigrant's places at this work - but then there are more and more and more homeless and poor people losing THEIR jobs, homes, benefits - right now I can believe that the next idea from these R politicians will be to force these people into these jobs.

Am I too pessimistic?

I’m hoping that, as we all experience the outcome of a constrained workforce due to constricted immigration, the pendulum will swing the other way and we’ll have progress towards a rational and humane immigration policy.

Yes we will all experience this outcome - but unfortunately, the party that voted for it is still in power and likely will be for 3 more years - which will be a long three years at this rate.
