On the day JFK was murdered, I can remember coming home from school to find my mother on her knees in front of the TV crying. I was 7 years old. Some things remain in your memory no matter how many years go by. I am afraid these Trump years are going to be similarly tragic, feeling hopeless and sad.

Also one of my first memories as a child. I was 6.

Ironic because my first memory of a major historical event was visiting after school to find my grandmother transfixed in front of the TV because Ronald Reagan had been shot.

Well....here's something that happened between myself and Tony Metivier.... I believe he's one and the same as the people you were addressing.

He sent me a friends request years ago now and after I posted something critical of the Republican party he replied with the remark that he didn't realize I had these thoughts and promptly unfriended me.

I can't remember now exactly what it was, but he's not better imo.

He plays the same game.

In this one instance, Tony M. did the right thing and stood up for what is right. In recent years, he has been welcomed into the fold. When I spoke Monday night, Tony remained silent.

“Speaking Truth to power” requires courage, conviction and coherence…and your oratory Monday night reflects all three qualities. Thank you, Ken, for being our voice… regardless of the non-response from the men you addressed.

Everything you said will be on record. We hear it today, and they heard it Monday night. I only wish we knew you planned to do this, so we could have filled the room and given you a standing ovation which would have been on record also.

Perhaps it’s time more of us Queensbury Dems should attend these meetings… with posters like “CONFLICT OF INTEREST…LOOK IT UP!”

I believe I have corrected that and will try to repost. You can find it on my Facebook page as well.

I still receive a message that this content is not available and it is likely because the person sharing shared it with a small group. So, a privacy issue shared with “friends only/ not public.

Thanks again for another informative issue of The Front Page. Also, I appreciate your words before the Q Town Board. Right on!

I feel that those of us living in Ward 2 were fortunate to have, in the recent election, two well qualified, competent candidates from which to choose. Each seems to have the best interests of the town and its residents at heart. I expect that whoever ends up In the position will keep their focus and rise above the partisan politics.

To all of you who read the comments section....how did we get so lucky as to have someone like Ken, AND Will, who not only write this substack but keep on TOP of so many things!!! Yes, their editorial experience certainly helped but Ken does SO many things besides that...just the Chapman Museum undertaking alone....and now, there he is, going right out there and SPEAKING his piece! (I could say the very same thing about Will and his separate efforts.) HOW do we get MORE Kens and Wills-------too bad it takes a while to produce them, LOL....because we need them NOW!!!!!

John Strough’s recognition is well deserved!

Also, your reminder that today is the anniversary of JFK’s assassination has motivated me to reflect and write on where we were that day, both physically and emotionally, and share my recollections with our children and grandchildren. (As I have often said, “We all have stories to tell in a world full of people with stories to tell”).

Good luck. Queensbury politics is far less responsive than Glens Falls' (which is far from perfect but feels much more connected to the people). But you miss another conflict of interest that should never have been permitted. Warren County Historical Society trustee John Strough leading the charge for public funding for the Historical Society's Joseph Warren Museum in his capacity as Warren County Board of Supervisors member.

I agree. Strough should have recused himself from any vote on that.

Per Post Star reporting May 16, 2024 “Seeing the reluctance and opposition of the Board, the Historical Society recognizes that the County and General Public are not supportive of this project. We accept this conclusion and will support whatever decision Mr. Newell makes on the disposition and location of his collection and urge the Board to consider the resolutions moot. We now consider this project finished,” the letter concluded.

The proposed resolution #142-148 that dealt with funding the Joseph Warren Museum was withdrawn (per WC meeting minutes) on May 14, 2024. The vote to withdraw the resolutions was carried by a unanimous vote.

Strough was appointed a Trustee by the WC Historical Society at their annual meeting Jan. 20, 2024.

Ken, do you have a link to the 11-page document? I found a link to an ethics complaint form on the Town of Queensbury's website but not the document outlining a Code of Ethics.

Isn’t it ironic that the Town of Queensbury’s website page for the Ethics Board fails to include the Code of Ethics itself? In any event, here’s the link:

I may try to contact them with my opinion. Thanks for your article and for speaking up about this.

Reading about your comments to the board made me think about the speech that brought about the end of the McCarthy era: “Have you no sense of decency, sir, at long last?” I guess that was back in the day when people could still be shamed into doing the right thing.

We have a similar situation in Washington County in which the Chair of the County Republican Committee also serves on the Easton Town Board and another exec committee member on the County Committee also serves as Town Chair in Fort Ann. What could go wrong?
