Add Dan Stec to that - what has he said about this public display of hate and venom throughout his district? Also, remember our MAGA Rep. Elise Stefanik posting a picture on her Twitter feed of her pointing at a FJB sign and grinning, and another tweet with "Let's Go Brandon". Before Trump it was unthinkable that an elected congressional rep would be so disrespectful of our president.

I’ve said this before but I kinda appreciate people putting trash on their vehicles like that and confederate flags. It alerts me to people I want nothing to do with.

Otherwise, I might treat them like I would a normal human.

I’m retired and wouldn’t have anything that offensive on my vehicle about anyone. I’m in church every Sunday and can’t imagine having my vehicle in the church’s lot with something like that.

Maybe the owner of that car goes to one like Tim Alberta writes about in his recent book. His father was pastor at a church. At the funeral of his father he had congregants coming up to him and giving him grief about his writing. Alberta himself is an evangelical.

That’s part of the destruction of decency Trump has brought in. He’s destroyed churches, government, communion of all kinds. He’s a force for evil.

Teach your children to hate, right?

I am mixed on this one. I volunteer to drive seniors around. So I am at the Saranac Lake Hospital a LOT.

After a while one starts to recognize the vehicles. And one knows intuitively about the people who drive them. The Tesla with no bumper sticker - doctor. The 10-year-old gas guzzler with the fjb bumper sticker and ciggy butts around it - uneducated.

You don't have to buy gas from a certain business, but I have one hospital.

You can use your freedom of commerce... and hopefully to send a letter to Stewart's and say why.. but your choice hurts the hatemonger.. AND another worker who has the same moral core that you and I have.

We took down the comment about where the owner of the bumper sticker may work because we felt it was unfair to other workers who might work there. And we did not know for sure if that was where the person worked.

I agree with this (changed my post)

but if you read the Jan6 Committee Report (as I know you have) you will realize we have a president who nearly cost election officials their lives because they had violent supporters and he posted their names and where they live

should add the picture in this story makes that person identifiable already

“There are so many ways of being despicable it quite makes one’s head spin.” ― James Baldwin.

Deplorable also.

I wish I could really understand what motivates the trump supporters. It would be easier to fight their fears then . Meanwhile we need to get people involved and out to vote against these people who threaten our country. I hope that young educated people will get out and vote!

Hate and ignorance motivate them.

And unearned righteousness.

I argue with pos_tefKKK supporters... and to a person they have both

you can as a pos_tefkkk supporter to show proof

you can SHOW them proof

and they make it clear that ignorance is their life

The hatred is on display everywhere these days. I guess people used to hide it and I was naive to think it didn't exist at this level. Silly me! Now that I can see it so clearly, it gives me a sick feeling in the pit of my stomach. I feel that we are an election away from Gilead and people are walking around oblivious to that fact.

Yes, it is sickening.

I think Trumpies have but two motivations. The wealthy want to keep all their tax dollars - all for me and none for you. The not-so-wealthy fear the demographic changes that will make America even more diverse, eventually with Whites as a minority. So what. No matter your skin color, we can all be educated, all find employment, and all enjoy life. It is not a zero-sum game. What hides behind the fear is racism. Add a soupcon of variant gender fear, and misogyny, and you get the voter who dreams that Trump will be his champion. Donald Trump will keep the dark and/or sexually "deviant" away from my block. He will save embryos only to let them go hungry once they're born. He will continue to support the hatred and just plain churlish behavior we see with this bumper sticker.

It's the "I'm going to heaven and you're not" world view that is turning America divisible, with liberty and justice for ME.

It's extremely frightening and frustrating.

There's several businesses I'm aware of that have owners who post pro authoritarian bs. I'm glad to know that's how they feel because I won't spend my money there.

I know locals who went to the capital on insurrection day....needless to say I keep clear of that ignorance.

And then there's Stefanik.....she is absolutely beyond redemption at this point.

I have no *friends* who support trump. I just can't. I was accused of being "hysterical " and told to "settle down and suck it up" as I watched the further dumbing down of America.

Having a trans child is terrifying.

The level of hate and disinformation is beyond disgusting.

Chris Music is a man running for BOE in SGF. Take a look at his social media - Chris Music for Board of Education 2024.

Or check out the social media of Moving Saratoga Forward....sickening.

We can only keep fighting. And I'm tired. It never ends.

His kind depend on the good people getting sick and tired… we can never never give in!

Chris Music lost previously. Hopefully the good people of SGF will dump him again. I have grandchildren in that school district. His ideas and values are terrible.

How does 75 years of social engineering directed at creating worldwide mass consumer society in opposition to postwar socialism play out? Well, we are seeing this version of how it plays out. Our economy is a powerful force for good when restrained by a sense of commonality and basic moral principles that restrain greed and envy which are even more powerful wedges of division in society when we start to live in separate cultures in our own communities, individualism over social cohesion - people who send their kids to private school vs public, volunteer military vs communal draft, 401k vs Social Security and Medicare.

Worse than the FJB or Let’s Go Brandon epithets is the Trump catchphrase “F**k Your Feelings.” Except of course the F word is spelled out. It cuts at the heart of being human, of being civilized.

I’ve mentioned before the truck around town that spells that sentiment out in big red letters across the rear window… guess we should be grateful that this person is more subdued. I need to mention that the style and placement of his message is illegal under DMV rules… not that he cares. He might be one of the “tourists” that visited the Capitol on Jan 6th. or a supporter of such behavior.

Thanks again, Will, for another wake up call. You and Ken sure have a not so subtle way of pushing my buttons.

Where there is no humility there is no civility. By humility I don’t mean “eating humble pie,” but the humility that creates an empty space in our lives where others can enter in. It means emptying ourselves of the hatred, anger, and fear which make us insensitive to the Other. It means emptying ourselves of the vestiges of white supremacy, anti-Semitism, Islamophobia, racism, nationalism, and all else that fosters arrogance, self indulgence, and the will to power. It is creating space in our lives to let others enter in, and to love and accept them as our sisters and brothers—the kind of self-emptying, love, and acceptance exhibited by the One whose birth we celebrate during this Christmas season.

This is a great article. All of trump's bad points in one place. Just reading this makes me wonder how things have gone off the rails since trump slimed his way down the escalator. The saddest part is that some will read it and be in full agreement as you stated. I fear for my children and grandchildren, living in a country that may kill democracy as we know it.

I have sent numerous letters and emails to Elise , and specifically asked for her to directly respond. I have yet to receive anything personal in response from her . Rather, I receive form letters, thanking me for contacting her, denigrating President Biden and Democrats in general. She always tells what a privilege it is to serve me. Having 4 Harvard graduates in my family, I am baffled by her not understanding the Harvard motto... VERITAS. Truth is not part of Elise's vocabulary, nor in her approach to life.
