Back in November, whenever the television was on we heard political ads about crime, crime, crime, crime. The American people voted accordingly. Most all of those tough on crime candidates were re-elected/elected. What's their plan to tackle crime? Go after the IRS.

Exactly. It is all about trying to scare people. I believe Dan Stec made preventing car jacking his priority. I don’t think I’ve ever seen that reported in the local newspaper ever.

Looking forward to George Clooney giving Rep. Jordan a little more time in the limelight in the OSU sex abuse documentary. Sure he’ll appreciate that. All Republican pols like being stars.

Speaking of Republican stars, I see the TU can’t get our rep to say a word about her endorsee from downstate George Santos, the world’s most accomplished man. Trying to imagine what she’d be saying if he was a Democrat. 🤔

what I see as the evils of the republican party

I, as a democrat, can say Biden screwed up with classified documents. I can say, if there was serious wrong doing.. IF he tries to hide what he did and hide that he stole those documents he should be prosecuted. Of course, as it is, Biden actually turned those documents in himself.

There is not a single republican that can do the same. In fact if if don the con is caught plutonium at mar a lardo the response would be.

He gets to go free because Obama once wore tan suit

Republicans: the way we are going to stop weaponizing government is to have a republican committee that goes after democrats who investigated wrongdoing, which a republican president clearly was doing. To prove this is what we are doing, we are NOT going to allow investigating democrats on the committee

And if you weren’t clear about how evil we are, we are eliminating the ethics committee.

---

the thing to remember about Benghazi... after 10 investigations.. they found no wrong doing, the committee, hard as they tried, could not say Hillary Clinton did anything wrong

At the same time, if that same committee had one investigation and spent four hours investigating gym jordan’s protection of pedophiles, he would not be in congress.

there was a little meme I saw yesterday that truly explains how the gop operates:

"

I don’t know who needs to hear this but…

No one is coming for your stoves.

We’re not coming for your Dr Seuss books, your hamburgers or your M&Ms.

We’re not grooming your kids to be furries or sexualizing them at drag shows.

Those are lies. Meant to make you mad.

THE END.

"

In other words, the republican party is trying to make the weak-minded be afraid of a boogieman that doesn't exist.. and there are many fools who are taking that fear and running home to chicken little.

This falls into the same category of the

weak-minded republicans who believe there are 33,000 emails hidden from them

I have had several conversations with professionals in the last year -- educators and medical professionals

All have stated that the vitriol directed at them has increased exponentially in the last six years (you know since don the con made it part of the gop game plan). And this vitriol is not about serious things... it is about any all all 'perceived' slights.

If a nurse says, "I am taking this gunshot victim into ER NOW, we will get to your cold" there will be outrage and name-calling. Plus accusations the nurse is not doing her job -- while she saves the life of a hunting accident.

What happened six years ago that would change this.

The last couple of years before I retired in 2020 were some of the worst years in dealing with readers. People would routinely tell us our newspaper was “biased” but then be unable to give me an example of that bias.

On the nose, sir, IMHO. The GOP is still looking for revenge 50 years after Watergate drove Richard Nixon from office. That party tried with Clinton's indiscretions. It tried with the whole "Birther" nonsense. It keeps looking for a scandal to take down a Democratic President, even after receiving a pass on Iran-Contra, possibly the most white-washed scandal in recent memory. I do not claim that the Democratic Party is "pure as the driven snow," but c'mon, the "weaponization" of government? Isn't investigating suspected malfeasance one of responsibilities of government? You don't suppose that Representative Jordan's intent is to muddy the waters and distract from the actions of the previous administration, do you?

I forgot to even mention the “birther” movement.

It real and I have witnessed it several times in the last year. People should never be afraid to speak out because of retribution and they are fearful of it.
