We really don't need tens of thousands of tourists crowding through Lake George over the winter months when we would normally enjoy the peace and quiet of our lake shore community.
From what I viewed, that was not the case. If anything, it was a regional audience which benefits a lot of businesses. Lake George continues to try to increase its tourism season and if you’ve been to Lake George during the winter months, you know it is almost deserted most of the time.
What "lot of businesses?" Who says an increased tourism season is good for the residents? How does that benefit a quality of life on the Queen of America's Lakes?
According to former Mayor Blais, last year tourist events generated approximately $600K in revenue, none of which went to reducing my property taxes or otherwise went to improve the quality of life of LG residents. On the otherhand, a consolidation of the Village and the Town would bring in as much as $500K or more annually, in perpetuity, that would go to reduce property taxes by as much as 35%. A savings that would go far to improve the finances of the residents and make housing more afforable. And it wouldn't require tens of thousands of motorcycles and hotrods rumbling and roaring up our lake side.
Sadly, without the winter tourist attractions other business destinations might not survive to serve us in the other seasons of the year.
Wishing you well in today’s Qsby Sr. Ctr. Presentation and other scheduled events, Ken. I’m staying masked and avoiding crowded rooms (even with all my vaccinations) due to rising local Covid, Flu, RSV cases. Sure wish others would do the same to keep all generations healthy!
I wish some of the millions of tourist dollars spent in Lake George could be spent to help desperate asylum seekers find safety and work in our Adirondack communities.
My mom served as the President of the League of Women Voters local Chapter in Rockland County in the 1960s. Let us hope the ERA is passed. It is needed

I am not an rxpert, but maybe the revenue it generates keeps your taxes lower? Just a guess.

Well at least the taxes weren’t raised

Women deserve equal rights - based on their record over the past 5000 years, men probably do not.
