As a reader of David McCullough, I believe that he would likely have appreciated your juxtaposition of the sublime (McCullough), to the disturbing (social injustice), to the ridiculous (Stefanik). Thank you for your work.
I am now searching for a slightly used toilet to place in my yard with the hashtag #FlushPuppy attached to it. IMHO this is where she richly deserves to be.
As for NOLA--I have seen the tent city, the WWII Museum and most of the rest of NOLA, in both summer and an unexpectedly bitter winter. I feel pity for the poor souls who are **living** in these squalid places. How is it that the US allows this? And then I remember who we REALLY are-- a bunch of peons forced to bear unwanted children and work for less than the price of a fast food burger, as Elon & Gates dine on foie gras and try to populate the **whyte** race (in the case of the Mollusk) and try and control the world via Murdoch- opoly.
It's good you have had to stick around New Orleans for longer than you had intended. New Orleans' bureaucratic inefficiency has its virtues. You learn things you never would have thought you wanted to know. If your son gets the apartment you both perhaps will enjoy the trauma of standing in line for hours to get your water put in the correct name for billing. The sadness of the poverty of New Orleans is overwhelming. When I lived there, some 15 or so years ago now, St. Joseph's Church on Tulane Ave. built a pavilion for the homeless and had an ongoing outreach to provide food and medical care. But the problem is endless. Katrina only made things worse. In areas with an almost year round warm climate such as New Orleans, the homeless find a makeshift home. Yes, it is sad that this happens in the USA and mostly no one cares.
ugh , been slowly going through McCullough books, sometimes a bit long, but always excellent
stefanik is a piece of crap, but I find it a little disingenerous for reporters to mention that Matt Castelli 'has started' to start playing the same game ---
if this was important then every article about stiffy would say: 1) she is a liar; 2) she is lying now. or we are not going to take quotes from stiffy when she is name calling.. to be fair -- the Post Star would often do things like 'No lie pledge'
but I don't believe when you, or few others, would do a story about national news of a congress vote and you put stefanik in the story--- you never then quoted Mike Derrick or otehr candidates...
It is a good point. I do try to stay above the political theatrics of the moments, but I did think this was a bit different because it is usually just Republicans who play the label game. That a Democratic in a local race was using the same tactics was interesting to me.

In regards to Elise's name in the toilet, maybe that's what trump REALLY thinks of her! I will do my best to promote that idea. 😊😊
Fascist is a much more efficient way of saying far right extremist.
I think we’ve read all if not most of David McCullough’s books and have them on our book shelves to read again.
Johnstown food next for me.

Sad.

Know that I agree with the name calling.. and I would hope both Matt's would not do it
But for the most part Tedra did not play the game.. and in the end it did not help her cause
btw, enjoying our writing here
meant -- I agree with your comments on name calling (I don't like name calling either)
America has lost a sense of civility... and it is said...
Just as when Beto chastised the heckler laughing at Uvalde deaths... I wish he would not have been crude, but agree with his sentiment
Agree 100 percent.
