A lot of us who were out on Glen Street in front of the Y on Sunday before the election saw Scott Murphy riding his bicycle. He came over and talked with a number of people.

I don’t know where Tim McNulty is originally from but I doubt he’s from West Glens Falls.

I don’t think someone needs to be born here to be from here, but you have to want to be here to be from here.

I just realized simply NOISE put, might not understand this... he isn't feigning ignorance.. maybe he is ignorant.

I don't think someone needs to be born here = this means, in a land of immigrants you can come to the country known as America.. That the United States (at least for now) has laws that allow people to come to America.. for long and short - term

To be from here = Like all the immigrants before, there is a path to citizenship. I am not sure why this is a complex topic for those who support hmpy trmpedo, he is part of a chain migration scam with his wives

But you have to be here to be from here = to become a US citizen you have to go through a process. You have to pass a test and pledge your alligiance to the United States (a test and a pledge that it is openly obvious that simplyNOISEput could not muster)

Expand full comment
Edward Low's avatar

One of the things about simplyNOISEput and his ilk is the lack of connection to reality

Think about it, they voted for a guy who wants to deport immigrants.. a guy who married immigrants (immigrants who chain migrated her family into the country

https://www.npr.org/2018/08/10/637371714/first-ladys-parents-become-u-s-citizens-thanks-to-chain-migration

https://www.washingtonpost.com/immigration/2024/03/25/trump-melania-parents-chain-migration/)

And this includes immigrants with legal status, like melania, if they break the law, but lest we forget, there is ample proof melania was here illegally and broke the law (

https://www.vox.com/2016/11/5/13533816/melania-trump-illegal-immigrant

https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/report-melania-trump-worked-in-us-without-proper-permit/2016/11/05/3ddc5a8a-a302-11e6-a44d-cc2898cfab06_story.html

https://www.politico.com/story/2016/08/melania-trump-immigration-donald-226648)

Now, explaining how simplyNOISEput doesn't know this is a mystery.. but not as big a mystery as his perceived grievances and dishonest posts (should we call him cis-honest, since he was born innocent but transgendered into a liar?)

LMAO, when I was living in Hartford NY and was on the Master Planning committee with old timer Gibson, one meeting he got all bent out of shape because of some of the restrictions we were hoping to implement since the town has no zoning and right to farm laws got him all riled up. He started in on talking about how his family had been there 200 years and told me that I couldn't be from Hartford (I was born and raised in Glens Falls 20 minutes away) until I had lived there for 100 years! I immediately told him, I wouldn't make it that long, I'm only 20 years there and I was already 50ish...LOL. Sorry Mike, this is one of the most provincial parts of the state, even Glens Falls folks won't let you be from there if you weren't actually born there...LOL. You can't make this stuff up. Oh well, as I've said all along, "you can't fix stupid!" and we have an extra heavy dose of it up north. All you had to do is drive around during election season and look at the signs and the election results.

I was in Kanab, AZ... visiting the visitor's center. There was an old guy there (I'm old too, so I know old) it was clear he was a local (spelled loco) with a chip on his shoulder, that likely no one noticed that much in the 10 minutes they were there, but I was there for 15

He told me he didn't like how transplants were moving to the area and changing things. (He left out the part that if people didn't move there (the Desi- hotel owner) -- there would be no Kanab...)

There seems to be this ownership.. from people who often own nothing... about how 'their town' has to follow the unwritten rules they make up.

As a transplant to where I live, I can safely say I am more committed, have volunteered more and contributed more to the future of my adopted how town.. than most 'locos.'

O and the Kanab loco, with the cowboy hat and the bolo tie... he told me to visit the museum around the corner (it was closed), while making it clear I could come and spend my money there, he could collect a salary off of visitors... but I should be careful about having any bright ideas... you know like knowing the museum hours...

I never in my wildest dreams thought our Democratic Republic would be under siege from within. This is exactly what is happening. We are witnessing the demise of our precious democracy. The words of Benjamin Franklin continue to ring in my head …. “a Republic if you can keep it “ . Our nation has experienced dark times in the past and survived. Will we be able to overcome this horrific episode or are we doomed ? We preached, cajoled and screamed and those who voted for Trump didn’t believe us. My heart is heavy.

About those "recess appointments" - did anyone else take note of the swinging door during Trump's first administration of all those "acting" members of his cabinet? Along with Mitch McConnell's goal post moves regarding Supreme Court nominations, or even meetings, he let all this slide. All those gigantic, debt limit bulging tax cuts to those who least need them and those federal judiciary slots he packed the court system meant that McConnell fully agreed to Trump's transactional bargains to do his donors' bidding, fatten his own bank account, and screw all of us not in the proper economic tier.

As for Stefanik - there was a Substack publication this week showing Our Elise lounging sideways in her House seat and giving the camera the finger. Classy, no? And the local GOP Chair praising her? Are we in Warren County finally beginning to see just how venial the current version of the Republican Party has become? Finally? Somebody, please say yes. You bet it is. It is a further act to avoid accountability and gather all power into his own hands, shutting out Congress. I wrote a Substack published yesterday titled "In Other News" about McConnell beating Trump to the punch to find the next Majority Speaker. Rick Scott, a Trump favorite whose Columbia/HCA conglomerate fraudulently billed Medicare and garnered a fine of over $1 billion and then failed upward to the Governorship and the Senate in Florida, one of our favorite retirement states. McConnell succeeded in getting John Thune, still too far right for my tastes but without Scott's baggage. A late shot to defend democracy from McConnell to put up a fight against Trump, who reacted with another tantrum.

What we do have is a president-elect who is a serial marital cheater, a convicted felon, and who was found civilly-liable for sexual abuse. He nominated a man who is currently undergoing an investigation initiated by his fellow Republicans for sexual misconduct, illicit drug use, accepting improper gifts, and seeking to obstruct government investigations of his conduct — and who temporarily resigned his House seat in an effort to bury the investigation results.

"The Wall Street Journal reported Tuesday that the Trump administration has suggested it will sign an executive order creating a board of retired senior military officials to review high-ranking generals and admirals to be removed if they are deemed "unfit for leadership."

It would allow Trump to fire any general who refused to carry out an order they considered "unconstitutional," such as using the military against other Americans or shooting protesters.

Trump wants control of the military."
