We'll see if she continues with her new found righteousness. One event does not make me a believer that she has seen the light. She has supported too many criminals and deviants for me to believe she has changed for the better. Her post proves my point I think.
Where oh where was our dear Elise when Donald Trump said, speaking of the thugs that were marching and chanting in Charlottesville, "Jews will not replace us" ? He said they were good people. Crickets is where she was. Seems she has the memory of a goldfish. And it reminds me of something my Grandfather used to say..."Even an unwound clock is right twice a day" ...from the era of wind up clocks, but good wisdom from the past.
Good points! Maybe this year’s Christmas miracle will be Stefanik recognizing her own hypocrisy and dishonesty and turning over a new leaf a la Ebeneezer Scrooge. One can hope!
She repeatedly voted against censuring or expelling George Santos. She was one of the most ardent defenders of Trump in his impeachments, and against the ideas that he committed sedition or aided an insurrection. She stood to challenge the lawful election of Joe Biden on January 6th…
I could go on.
Benedict Arnold was among a handful of the greatest American heroes of the Revolution, until he became a traitor. Elise Stefanik’s record of accomplishment pales beside that of Arnold, but her failure to American democracy may be in the same league. If nothing else the people she conspires with and defends committed far worse crimes against our country.
I love your optimism Ken but I think you nailed it when you observed that Rep. Stefanik stumbled across an issue that played to just about everyone's sensibilities. Her follow up gloating quickly revealed her true, vindictive stripes. But hope springs eternal, maybe this experience will open Rep. Stefanik's eyes to the possibility of using her intellect for good.
She is someone who attacks...not for the good-- she, who supported anti-Semites running for office, who welcomed racist and anti-Semitic speakers, who supports the now Christian right wing leader of the house of representatives is not someone who supports the dignity and the rights of all. She is the one who argued against the gag order for Trump who threatened judges, clerks, juries, election workers--What should she ask him with a yes or no question: Did you, Mr. Trump, lie about winning the election, did you try to get false electors to overthrow the fair election, did you actually say that some of the marchers yelling "Jews will not replace us" were good people.. She has no moral ground to stand on...
Yes, the blind squirrel found a nut and is in hog heaven to mix a few metaphors.
She’s all for Defendant Trump having the right to foment attacks on Judge Engoron’s law clerk. Trump is coming out regularly and saying he intends to rule as a dictator. You know, for our own good. And she has nothing to say about that.
She’d be perfectly fine with turning the whole country into Texas where a woman has to fight with the state AG to have an abortion to potentially save her life and ability to have children. And outside of that travesty the state is practically a free fire zone.
But yeah, congrats to Elise on clearing the low bar. The disgraceful answers given by those college presidents is only matched by Stefanik’s own disgrace and lack of honor.
yes, exactly...the metaphors work, her silence on every issue around abortion, assault weapons, Santos, the Speaker of the House, domestic violence show so clearly her desire for attention, power, and for being Trump's possible vice president. Our legislature endangers all people
I think it is more important to remember that in this case Congresswoman Stefanik shone a light on an ugliness that has apparently overtaken our elite colleges and universities. The issue is not Stefanik, but the hatred found in the students actions these institutions of higher learning admit, but to the administrators and faculty that seem to encourage and support it, by their inaction and double standards. I watched the hearing, I heard what the presidents said and more importantly did not say, so as far as the congresswoman saying "one down two to go," i won't quibble with her statement at all.
Elise Stefanik is little more than a political opportunist. She saw the opportunity to score some easy points, and took it. I don't believe she has any moral compass at all. How else to explain her unwavering support for the previous President? Do you suppose she still dreams of a position in a future Trump Administration? She is nothing if not ambitious. (Didn't the GOP criticize Hillary Clinton for being ambitious? Guess that was OK, because she was a Democrat)
Elise is such a repulsive supporter of fraudster and criminal Trump who regularly spouts hate and violence against law abiding American citizens, it is really hard to give her too much credit. Let's see how she responds to a similar line of questioning when her strategy is used against her for her support of a man who is working hard to undermine the very foundations of American Democracy and wreak physical harm on our citizens . Elise and Donald are two peas in a pod. They both don't care who they hurt to satisfy their own ambitious.
She posted 15! (yes, I counted them) posts on Facebook about her questioning. And her makeup was spot on that day, just like any other FOX News personality. Hypocrisy on parade.
The SUNY cuts are very alarming. SUNY has served New York well by affording the education of our middle class and I have witnessed students that came from small rural high schools go on to SUNY schools and excel. I realize that higher education may not be for everyone and that the costs are increasingly prohibitive. We just cannot continue damages to our public education and expect to keep dictators from being elected by the uneducated.
Stefanik is not someone who cares about anyone but herself and Donald Trump's coattails. She is in it to get the most eyeballs and social media coverage to build her MAGA brand for the big payout ASAP, sooner than later. While there is no question the 3 college presidents performed poorly, the reality is Stefanik only wants the fame and power it brings and could care less about the country or her constituents. As soon as she gets a better offer, this district will be in the rear view mirror for good!
We'll see if she continues with her new found righteousness. One event does not make me a believer that she has seen the light. She has supported too many criminals and deviants for me to believe she has changed for the better. Her post proves my point I think.
I don’t have much hope either, but one can dream in a Christmas miracle.
😂😂😂 Absolutely! 😂😂

Yes, there have been a lot of those moments.
Let’s not forget who Stefanik is.
She repeatedly voted against censuring or expelling George Santos. She was one of the most ardent defenders of Trump in his impeachments, and against the ideas that he committed sedition or aided an insurrection. She stood to challenge the lawful election of Joe Biden on January 6th…

Exactly....

I tend to be optimistic, but I agree it is very hard when it comes to this congresswoman.
She is someone who attacks...not for the good-- she, who supported anti-Semites running for office, who welcomed racist and anti-Semitic speakers, who supports the now Christian right wing leader of the house of representatives is not someone who supports the dignity and the rights of all. Elise is going to be remembered, but it’s not going to be for holding the feet of clueless college presidents to the fire.

Nice
But pos_tKKK is wrong
pos_tKKK is lying
pos_tKKK went to harvard, havard has had a racist history, and when she attended she didn't care. Harvard like America have a history of hating Jews
We refused to let Jewish children to immigrate here (https://www.vox.com/policy-and-politics/2017/1/27/14412082/refugees-history-holocaust)
harvard https://legacyofslavery.harvard.edu/report/the-long-legacies-of-slavery-segregation-marginalization-and-resistance-at-harvard#twentieth-century-vestiges-of-slavery at various times was not better.
either pos_tKKK ignores this or she is quiet because when she went there she was embracing that.
step away from what the College Presidents did on the witness stand
Harvard, MIT and Penn are not the only colleges that allow free speech (the same first amendment right pos_tKKK uses everyday to lie with).

SNL had fun with her grilling Saturday night.
I guess she has finally made the big time!
the skit wasn't especially funny, for several reasons
• The actor who was going to play pos_tKKK (Cecily Strong) pulled out at the last moment
• The writers clearly don't know pos_tKKK or they would have totally skewered her in so many different ways
Stefanik needed a decent follow up question. “So it’s conduct and not speech that matters? Say a student wanted to hold a Klan or a Nazi rally?”
Ah Ken, it's nice to dream of good intentions. Thank you for sharing.

She's already got her social media team hard at work gloating.
Her false concern is obvious to those of us who follow her actions.
Now that trump has praised her she must be salivating.
There is no hope for her.
She's too far gone and I hope she rots in hell. No use for this piece of human garbage. She's even worse than trump to me.
And why does she fail to condemn Trump’s antisemitism?
Because it would hurt her career. And alienate a significant portion of her base.
It literally sickened me to hear trump acknowledge her knowing that she'd be licking it up.
