Lee Zeldin should rot in hell, and the denial of climate change amid the chaos left in the wake of the toddler in chief is astounding. Not a peep about the degradation and reversal of years of hard work trying to clean up our environment. It becomes oh so clear that the only thing that motivates MAGA is pissing off the rest of us. The only thing resembling politics that they do is to un-do, destroy, denigrate and then complain that government inefficiency and that it can't do anything right. I hear that FEMA is on the block now too...imagine if he ran on that? enough, enough, enough
What gets me is that the whole cult from top to bottom is still so aggrieved. I obviously don’t like that Musk and Trump are president, but I’m nowhere near as pissy as these people are. Life goes on.
Oh, and that is a hella beautiful job building that railroad diorama by Messrs Wheeler and Bevins. 🧑🍳 💋
in business classes they teach students how to reconcile the ledger.
When it comes to making money by ignoring climate change... everyone ignores the ledger and reconciling what the costs are... I notice the new slogan is 'we are smart enough to save the planet'. Which I hope is true... but who is going to pay for that.. and how many species and member of species (you know like humans) will die in the meantime???
As we await the likely endorsement of Dan Stec to run for Stefanik’s seat in Congress we should not forget that Dan Stec is an enthusiastic supporter of Lee Zeldin who Stec endorsed for governor.
It seems unlikely Stec will stand up to the environmental degradation Zeldin’s administration of the EPA will bring.
And he is advertising on FB, including posting this Substack which will be of interests to many people. I DO NOT subscribe to everything said, but I only see one or 2 actual errors - and they are fairly minor. But the opinion includes a lot of scuttlebutt that has been around for a long time. As for his contention that Democrats will use Dan’s personal problems against him, Democrats have been privy to all of the dirty details he mentions for a long time and Democrats have not put that information out into the public - unless this author is a Democrat, which I doubt.
So, without further adieu I post this link for folks to judge for themselves:
Thanks for giving us “the rest of the story” as Paul Harvey used to say.
Had a hunch Stec was a cheater, but knowing his GF is his staffer is another example of his ego-sense of entitlement. His ex-wife may have moved on, but his children have to live with the stench of his choices. Schoolmate taunts can be cruel, even if they are living in another district now. There are no secrets on the internet.
If you stopped 10 QBY adult residents and asked them their opinion / position on the ethics issue facing the Town Board, 9 of 10 would not know what you’re referring to. Today’s uncertain and stressful life state produces a very narrow focus of concern which in turn produces the apathy that exits throughout the country. Plus, most residents think that Town government does a pretty good job. Plus, conflicts of interests have been part of Warren County and QBY politics forever. I applaud your efforts and ethics. I share your distaste. When one party controls the power, we experience the results on a local and national level.
I agree with you... and I notice others have mentioned 'no newspaper' (I suspect even if there were five newspapers, delivered to resident's door for free -- the pubic would largely not read (i.e. be ignorant) of the issue.
But
supposedly we have a system of checks and balances that would through corrupt politicians in jail.... I would contend our checks and balances are also corrupt... or willingly absent in this.
People seem to be OK with reading for free. That's what killed the business model for newspapers. It is expensive to do good journalism. People will pay hundreds for phones and cable but not journalism. Short-sighted.
There is plenty of objective news... for free (if you pay for your internet or cell service) to fact check news... but you will see people (example= the personalities of w-tucker) doing one of the following:
ª make a statement of 'what they want to believe' but will not present any facts or sources that support that claim.. and when it is question they have no response to obfuscate and/or name call
ª will question others who do have facts to back it up... then call for more sources.. challenge those sources sources and then obfuscate and name call
ª and (my sad favorite) the ones (like the simp https://substack.com/@simplyput2? ) in private meanderings posts factless snark and will block anyone who counters them
It is clear those folks could have a newspaper delivered to them and read by Jason Momoa and they still will be willinglyIgnorant of the facts and deny any sense of objectivity.

sorry... not again.. this is something that doesn't end..
you are what you are (You khow what I pointed out), I don't suspect you are going to change.. but if you do, let me know and won't use you as an example again.
Went to Warren County Clerk’s office last week to renew passport… no forms available. Offices were told to throw out all forms that offered M/F/X for gender choices. Instead of using them up, just throw them out…How many hundreds of thousands of dollars wasted in the name of DOGE “efficiency?”
What gets me is the slavish attention to details that really don’t matter in the grand scheme of national security, like a line on a form or making sure a small town library’s Canadian patrons are insulted and inconvenienced, but absolutely mind boggling incompetence and ignorance when it comes to something like, say, a real time war conference. If they’re trying to be terrifyingly stupid, mission accomplished!
ª I disagree with the endorsement, if they paid attention they would have realized Paula Colins was a better candidate FOR ny21, as were all the democrats in the last five elections
ª I didn't read the endorsement, but I will assume they gave a reason why they picked... which I might have also disagreed with
The fact that pos_tfnKKK has not denounced signal-gate* proves they were wrong.. But now that they are on record of being wrong... maybe they should explain why that was or wasn't a good choice
Mr. Tingley, you often cite that the Post-Star often endorses republican candidates as a sign they are not partisan... it raises a question I have with.. why is there no assessment of choices.
Many sports people publicly brag about their March Madness bracket choices = pretending to be sports geniuses . The same way they brag about who is going to win the superbowl, with scores and why.
Seems to me these same predictions and endorsements should be followed up with.. why they were wrong (or right).
The fact the S-Gazzette picked a liar who is standing with acts of treason... it might be a good time for the editorial board to explain why they are right (or wrong) about a candidate who clearly has parted with the sedition act **
That's the tricky. We often would get people contact us and rub it in that the person we endorsed did not win. The point for us, we were always going to endorse the person we thought was best regardless of their chances of winning. See our endorsement of Matt Funiciello of the Green Party. He didn't have a chance to win but he was the best candidate. Editorial boards are not trying to pick winners. They are trying to pick the best person for the job.
My point.. (maybe it wasn't clear) that if you (Newspaper Editorial Board) picked someone... who turns out was corrupt or a liar...or both (which I believe pos_tfnKKK has proven to be).. it seems the responsible thing to do is write a follow up and say: "we were wrong, we thought she would do the right thing and she has not."
But that could also not matter. Many think pos_tfnKKK was good because she brought things* with her seniority that a first year Green Party Member might not.
*Of course, this sets aside the fact that 90% of what people think are pos_tfnKKK's accomplishments is really her taking credit for bills she voted against
"So that board member, in doing the job he was elected to do, might feel compelled to vote against his constituents in some situations in order to stay in the good graces of the party chairman."
It’s easy for an elected official to vote the party line. It takes no thought, no analysis of the pros and cons of the policy in question, no time and effort to examine residents’ wants and needs. Best of all, it provides the elected official with some cover for his vote — "my fellow board members voted the same way." Any automaton can do it. And many do.
Governing, however, is a different matter. That requires weighing the advantages and disadvantages of a policy decision, the effect on residents, and common sense as to what’s best for the town and its residents. It requires the use of good judgment. And most of all, it may require a willingness to break with the other board members. Anyone with integrity can do it.
That's the breaking news I miss an the post star,I the post star is nit even a shell of what it once was sad, I missvyou an will an the paper its used to be, thank god g or your,on the chronical
Mahmoud Abdul's protest was not violent....He was here legally, he was taken illegally. Another Palestinian protester was also apprehended. Our right wingTrump, Musk. Vance are on a vendetta against students and universities for being anti-Semitic--screaming at college presidents, threatening to defund them, arresting students. The hypocrisy is outrageous.. Musk gives Nazi salutes, Vance speaks to the extreme right wing German party, Trump pardons the insurrectists at the Capitol with Nazi flags and Auschwitz sweatshirts, the oath keepers and the proud boys,. and thinks that some of the Charlottesville protesters chanting"Jews will not replace us" were very fine people. Being for Palestinian rights is not anti-Semitic, not anti-Israel. It is against Israel's right wing agenda and its out of control bombing and killing, it is against racist Israeli settlers attacking Palestinians in the West Bank, destroying their olive trees and, most recently beating up the Palestinian filmmaker who. with an Israeli comrade just won an award for his film: No Land but this. . As a Jew I am continually protesting Netanyahu as I protest Trump--two criminals who are willing to destroy their countries to stay in power. I support Rabbis for Human Rights and all the groups in Israel, as well as well as groups here in the US, who work for justice for all, for democracy and freedom.
I listened to our "DNI" Gabbard state that climate change was no longer the biggest security risk to the US! Of course she did lots of blah blah blah but that was the gist.
Watching C-span & seeing the Democrats rip into the arrogant ignorant people who are in "control" of our nation's defense? Good for him.
Hegseth is not the only head that needs to roll! Actually - it should start at the top.
I was happy the Post Star reported on the "Stefanik" town hall at the library. However, while no one will dispute the contribution Dr. Rugge made for health care in our region his defense of Stefanik shows either his ignorance or complicity in her lies about providing critical funding for health care. A simple search will show that almost every funding bill that provided assistance for Rugge was initiated by Democrats and in fact Stefanik voted Nay. It boggles the mind how so many local leaders are in fear of this silver spoon fed spoiled brat. Additionally, it is disgusting that the Post Star reached out to cowardly little mean boy Degrasse for comment. He is neither an elected official or a government employee. Perhaps they could ask him about his false claims of military experience when in fact he never served. Textbook stolen valor. At least the Times Union provides a bit of local news.

Since you filed the conflict of interest.. it seems fitting they would have contacted you.. and my question about transparency is for you to confirm that.
thank you.

now to your point.. I think it is fitting that the Post-Star editorial board would contact various members of the paper before publishing, especially the reporter who may have covered that story, to ensure accuracy
I wonder how Elise Stefanik feels about staying in Congress now that Donald has pulled her nomination to be UN ambassador. It must be like getting a new job and then having to stay in your old job when you've been planning for months to leave. It can't be pleasant. If she had any gumption, she'd quit anyway.
Imagine the cat fight if Stefanik, Stec and the Sign Guy stayed in the race for her seat…!!!
I believe that the well- attended Sunday Crandall Library protest event, depicting Elise as “M.I.A.” in a big way, caught the attention of Albany ——->. D.C. White House staff for Herr tRump to come out so strongly for his favorite “Frau” today…

Exactly! The Front Page exists for that very reason. Thanks to the Gazette for doing the right thing.

Mr. Tingley, did Pulitzer winner Mark Mahoney consult you before he wrote his editorial?
