How much are you talking? The Post Star recently raised my monthly payment to $51.00, which may not seem a lot to people, but being on a fixed income, a $10.00 increase can be challenging, especially when others are also raising their prices.

June - Whether you donate or not, you will still get The Front Page each morning for free. We are asking for monthly support of $5 but if that is tough, don’t worry about it.

Call the Post Star. They will beg you to stay by offering you a much lower rate. If not, quit. After a few weeks you with be offered a great deal to come back. Then you can do both.

Call PS and tell them to cancel your subscription. They will offer you a much lower rate.

I have no idea what the PS is doing. When the announced the shrunken new model (fraudulently billed as "expanded"), they doubled my price to $22/mo. I called and threatened to cancel and they gave it to me for $11. My mom got it for like $5. I'm willing to pay for good local journalism - I also subscribe to the Times-Union - but I wasn't going to pay twice the price for half (or less) the product. They know they're overcharging which is why they so readily give these discounts.

Just pledged for $50 a year subscription, using credit card that won’t be charged till the paid subscriptions start. I pay more than that for my hair perms! 👵

I like Rosemary Armao's spunky, bright manner, and willingness to speak out.

But I spend most of my online time reading. I find podcasts and videos to be time-consuming and slow. It's partly that earbuds do not fit comfortably in my ears. Carrying around a cell phone in my pocket provides an inconsistent audio experience.

But it's also that I read at varying speeds. Reading a difficult sentence or phrase, I can readily review the context just by looking. To back up an audio or video product to re-hear an earlier bit is guesswork (how far to back up?), and itself distracting.

And, short audio or video segments are much easier to consume than long ones with multiple parts. I like the economic commentary by Joe Blogs (https://www.youtube.com/@JoeBlogs). He builds in chapters with titles. I frequently only listen to a few chapters of his vids. And MacMost (https://www.youtube.com/@macmost) produces many shorter videos with rapid delivery and excellent organization of ideas. I frequently press the Space bar when watching attentively to his presentation.

So, I'm sad that Rosemary Armao is not on those shows. What, she's too much of a rapscallion? Not in my book!

I used to listen to the NYT podcast The Daily when I was doing something in the kitchen. But I often finished food prep way before the podcast was over. I also find the time factor to be a problem. If I was a commuter it might serve me better.

I agree with your assessments on podcasts. I much prefer the written word.

I would support a Fourth Estate that holds politicians accountable for their dishonesty and dirty tricks. I'll watch and see how you do first.
