Clowns with malign intent and weapons of mass destruction.

This is a naive comment: “With Trump constitutionally term-limited to one more term were he to win again in 2024, the VP slot could be an even bigger prize than usual for Republicans trying to get on the fast track to a 2028 candidacy,” Yang said.

Trump is a great admirer of Putin and Putin has circumvented term limits in Russia.

Oh yes. If Trump does get reelected, he will be president for life, no doubt about it. Then Stefanik and the Trump kids will have a cage match to see who succeeds him.

Succession is going to be a horror show for Republicans once Trump is gone from the scene via stroke, death or whatever cause. They’re going to go at each other like feral cats. They could’ve avoided it by honoring the results of the 2020 election but wouldn’t accept the short-term pain.

I thought the same thing when I read that.

Trump is extremely superficial and normally chooses very attractive women to be by his side. I would be surprised if he chose Stefanik but it would really depend on his advisers influence on his choice. That has certainly been her goal.

Ooooh snap!!!

INTERESTING, not sure what that says about Mike Pence.

Good thing he wasn't a woman!

Trump said Mike Pence was a good looking guy.

I hope she gets the nod...she'll have to give up her house seat if she runs, right??? I'd LOVE that...

Expand full comment

Not necessarily, that is usually the case.

Expand full comment

That she resigns? Or doesn't resign?

Expand full comment

Id have to check and see what Paul Ryan did.

Expand full comment

There is not law that says she has to resign. Ryan definitely stayed on and became Speaker after losing VP.

Considering how being a servant of Trump has worked out for so many people I say, “Go for it, Elise.”

Jeff Sessions was first in the Senate to endorse Trump, jumped on AG job and then couldn’t even get his seat back because Trump endorsed his opponent. And he’s actually doing better than many others. Trump is calling for the prosecution of Barr and others who worked for him. He nearly got his last Veep hanged and was certainly supportive of the idea.

Elise is only pretending to be a lawyer recently with her writings. For real lawyers there’s Cohen who went to prison and numerous others facing either that or at least the end of their careers.

I’m trying to think of anyone for whom serving him has been a great career move. The idea that Stefanik has great political chops seems overrated. She parachuted into the North Country that’s deeply red and was able to win election as a moderate. Now she has shape shifted to follow the Trump wing. Maybe she can keep being a chameleon, but the curse of Trump has gotta be a possibility. ETTD! 🪦

Forgot about Santos. Yes, can’t wait to see how our esteemed rep votes on her protégé. Hope it doesn’t cause any friction between her and those downstaters in Biden districts who want him gone yesterday. It’s so sad for them that they’re not in a nice safe district like Elise is. 😢

Unless she is 100 percent loyal.

Assuming someone can be loyal enough to Donald Trump. Can’t imagine what the asks look like down the line.

“Go shoot that guy on 5th Avenue for me.”

Charlie Sykes writes about Mike Lee this morning. He could just as well be writing about Elise Stefanik. No diff. God willing the majority of people in this country are going to believe in objective reality.

Elise=maybe moderate voting record but extremist statements that would put off moderates. And her position on abortion is far from moderate, though she has been silent on that after all the abortion wins in the state referendums. Her racist statements probably wouldn't fly much and, honestly, I hear nothing from her about any kind of domestic agenda other than culture war stuff and chocolate milk in school. Gilibrand is doing a lot on education, elder care and other things that hit close to home; we're not hearing anything like that from Elise. Would enjoy hearing her debate Kamala Harris, though, on all of these things.

I've been following Monica Potts since she wrote about the library in her hometown in rural Arkansas. The townspeople went crazy over a proposal to raise the pay of the head librarian- of their only library- to $25 an hour- they thought it was an extreme salary, then it morhped into they didn't want to pay for quite a lot of other, basic services. A very sad story.

She’s nothing but a low towing handmaiden.

Elise's adoration and support of Trump demonstrates how little she considers women and their rights. To stoop so low as she has is disgusting. I feel so sorry for the son that she is raising.

The easiest method to getting a new Congressman is to just go ahead and elect me.

I do plan on suing to remove Stefanik from the ballot, as Colorado has stated that Trump engaged in insurrection and Stefanik is caught up in the fake elector scandal.

We can make this all academic. I live in NY21, unlike my opponents and I'm humble enough to know that I don't have all the ideas and can ask my constituents for what they want and need.

Expand full comment

Only good that can come out of Elise running with Trump and winning is that we in NY 21 would be rid of her. But of course, worse for the country...

My impression from reading her newsletters, is she smacks anti-choice, anti - reproductive freedom.

It would mean disaster too if Stefanik was picked for VP.

Why she is still supported by anyone with an IQ higher than their shoe size baffles me. She is so myopic and petty that she voted against the CHIPS bill; legislation that created hundreds of high-wage jobs in Saratoga county. But her small mindedness wouldn't let her support anything that does good for an adjacent district because it was advanced by Democrats. In her partisan zeal, she forgot that the whole Global Foundries project was kicked off by Joe Bruno, a Republican GOP rainmaker.
