Years ago, when I was in my 20's, I worked with and became friends with Jerry Solomon's daughter, Sue. Her father was a very patient, loving father to his children. He was a really nice person, and I am glad I got the opportunity to meet him.
I didn't agree with the majority of Jerry Solomon's political principles but at least he had principles. He would never have been willing to destroy the country to advance his own career.
I do remember the Post Star making a lot of fun of Jerry Solomon after his to do on the House of Representatives floor over gun control with Patrick Kennedy. Jerry's famous words "“My wife lives at home alone five days a week in a rural area in upstate New York, Solomon charged. "She has a right to defend herself when I'm not there, son, and don't you ever forget it! Don't you ever forget it!
Solomon then asked Kennedy to “step outside". But blows were not exchanged. The fun was made since they lived on North Rd which was off of Garrison Rd in Queensbury. l did love Rep. Solomon for one reason, he always showed up for everything in his community and showed his support. Those were the days that they really came home and did not spend all their time in Washington getting rich.

Ron Stafford and Betty Little.
Two more highly respected public servants.

Solomon obviously mischaracterized the danger in this upscale neighborhood that was hardly rural. He deserved what he got on that one.
I really think this is a problem that anti-gun people don't make hay out of
the gun nuts need to stop at: "I want a guy for protection"
Because almost always anything after that is a lie or ignorance
Statistics so what people with guns are NOT safer.
Personally I would start to suggest they guy who has to lie about living in a dangerous rural area and MUST HAVE A GUN
is delusional and likely should not have a gun!
I plan to buy and read the book as soon as it comes out as I don’t pay for anything on line. I’m very much looking forward to reading it.
