The Strand is marvelous. And it’s marvelous in large part because of Jonathan.

Oh, and if Trump goes to Cuba may he take Elise Stepanack with him.

The Cubans hate Trump.

Yeah, they always talk about him going to Russia. He’d be a no longer useful idiot I would think, tho. I’d like to see his handler there overthrown so maybe we’d find out what kompromat they really have on him.

He’d probably end up in Paraguay home of runaway Nazis for decades. Sorry Paraguayans.

Honestly, I think he’s heading for a stroke. You can only be angry like he is for so long before a gasket blows somewhere. I think the jury did hit on an amount that made him shut up, but the effort of not running his mouth must be torture for him.

He must have some great genes to have gone so long on the worst diet, total aversion to exercise and no sleep. Can’t imagine.

His father made it to 94, but he looked to be in better shape physically. Not as overweight anyway. Worth noting he did have dementia, tho.

The stress of the trials plus running for president has to be unbearable. A lifetime of criming comes with a price.

Or maybe he has a portrait of himself showing his true condition hidden away somewhere, a la Dorian Gray.😂

Wonderful article. I can’t wait to visit Hudson Falls and The Strand Theater.

Kevin, I went to their website and to say I was less than impressed would be an over simplification. If Hudson Falls High School has a Media Arts program, I would wager they could make a more interesting and informative website than what’s there now. That wager thing does constitute an offer to bet unless we’re using monopoly money then I’m in for hundred.

For your viewing enjoyment, the Strand Theatre 202 Main Street, Hudson Falls, NY 12839 I didn’t think the building was that old.

Here’s an article by Maury Thompson that includes that photo and one that’s maybe a little better.

Same pictures just more clear, I like them, I’m thinking Photo Shop. Something like that article you linked me to is what I did not see on their website, and I found the article interesting. Looks like they lost a few seats if 51 is a few and I’ve got a new song to play. Thanks!

Thanks for the tour and it’s a crabapple at the back of the bullpen. One day it will be descended on by robins or if you’re lucky cedar waxwings. They will clean it off in a matter of hours.. oh yes and cardinals.

Thanks Will, for another lovely tribute to local attractions successfully resurrected by dedicated small town residents.

Downtown Hudson Falls certainly deserves a rebirth of the arts, as well as easily accessible stores for food, clothing, pharmacy needs, and safe walking spaces for their area seniors and other age groups.

Saving up babysitting $$ to buy a teen Pendleton clothing item, displayed in the corner Penders’ store window, was quite a treat back in the ‘60’s!

On a far darker note, I’ve often imaged a reserved GITMO prison cell, without windows, A/C, or internet access for the ex-Prez…with a 9/11 terrorist as his room mate. 👹

Having been stationed at Guantanamo Bay for a year back in the ‘70’s, it gets mighty hot down there at high noon.

Between Bella and Ringo, your descriptions are just plain...totally sweet. Always wonderful to hear what the three of you are managing to do.

A lovely column, Will! I live quite a ways from Glens Falls but you remind me to appreciate the fabulous places in Troy, Schenectady, Rensselaer, etc. we are blessed!

Love the Strand and a BIG thank you to the folks who have resurrected it.

There’s some great talent performing at that venue and just enough variety so that over the course of just a few weeks there will inevitably be something “ on stage” for everyone.

One note of caution...there are times when “ the house” finds it necessary to blast the sound of performing well above 90db. On occasion I’ve looked around wondering if others in attendance took note that the sound being blasted was ear shattering. At times I noticed folks in the audience covering their ears and some were wearing ear protection “plugs”. Huh? What’s that about.? Why not just adjust the sound system to an appropriate level? I inquired after one performance that was especially “ ear excruciating “ and with a smile the Strand volunteer said “ Oh yes....quite a few people mention the sound system is too loud....that’s why we pass out free ear plugs!”

I’m told if you prefer not to wear ear protection during extremely loud Strand performances.....the memory of a great show favorably lingers for a few weeks and the ringing in your ears eventually subsides as well in about a week! LOL

Michael Some types of music I like loud while others not all. Earbuds in, set to loop. Loud but well below the threshold of pain https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r21ztubCc48

Let me for a mount jump to the end, maybe I’ll get back, maybe not. If you have a ringing in your ears https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tinnitus you may wish to get your hearing checked. There may be a link between hearing loss and Cognitive decline https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hearing_loss. If I have read it correctly there are at least two thoughts although they link both to age. The hearing loss coincides with age and age is the driving force, the other one is something called cognitive load. As people developing hearing loss in the process of aging, the cognitive load demanded by auditory perception increases, which may lead to change in brain structure and eventually to dementia. That one cut and paste right off the page. What happens when the hearing loss is from loud sounds, would not cognitive load on the brain be the same? A loss is a loss is it not?

New song and this one I’ll turn up https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-2tTWkS-S0U

Sounds like the Strand Theater might wish to investigate a sound system designed by an acoustical engineer and with advent of AI, that place could rock. If not for the fact that such a system is so far beyond their budget, they could never break even.

Wonderful article. No politics. Ringo seems extraordinarily well behaved. Are you some how related to THE Dr. John Dolittle who lived in Hugh Lofting's head (and still does in mine)?

Yes, the Strand is a gem as is Jon. Glad you got a tour with Bella anda Ringo!

Love your Sunday pieces, Will. Thank you.
