I think we have a few answers to readers' questions asked of Dan Stec. There's an enlightening article in today's Daily Gazette. Even though he doesn't seem to have immersed himself into the MAGA cesspool, he has aligned himself with what he calls Trump's "mandate".
Full disclosure: I do not live in NY-21, but I will support a Democratic candidate for the House of Representatives. I hope it's Paula Collins again.
I agree - I did donate to Paula Collins earlier. And Ialso do not live in NY-21 - just a ways south of there in NY. Of course both candidates should answer those questions - I'm very sure that Paula would have no problem doing so - how about "Stec"?
I must add, reading those very intelligent questions from your readers makes me think there are a few of them who should look into running for office. They certainly sound like they know and are aware of the issues in this district (and others).
Excellent, though I would ask if you (and anyone citing a source) to link. I believe you and I am not interested to see the full article.
I don't know if I am sold on Paula Collins, not because so far she has run circles of pos_tfnKKK and dam deckstec, but I have only been exposed to her via her substack (https://paulany21.substack.com/). I see nothing from the other democrats.
If I could cite a problem with Ms. Collins and it is the reason she runs circles around the republicans... she knows the issues and is very thorough in her columns are a lot to swallow --- again good, but a lot.
I would like to hear from the others... and sit here just wondering how the NY State Democrats will find a way to let a weak gQped candidate win
OK, I get it. NOW, pose these same questions to Paula Collins...STOP MAKING THIS THE DAN STEC SHOW. We have a REALLY QUALIFIED Democrat in this race as well. Aside from the "kiss the ring" questions, it's important for us to know how she would proceed with the issues facing our District. And how do you propose that Dan AND Paula answer these questions???
Paula Collins did just go through am election campaign that ended in November, so many of the questions have been answered. Not all, but many. Mr. Stec is a bit of an unknown on national and international issues.
Came here to say this exact thing. I would also say give these questions to Collins and BLAKE Gendebien and any others who have filed with Dem county chairs to be considered for running to represent Ny-21
I was down that end of Bourbon Street about 10:30, had a slice of pizza and headed back to Jackson Square for the fireworks. Thankfully, I was home by 1 a.m.
Going through ‘notes’ and this popped up and I giggled to myself…. you saying you were ‘thankful’ to be home by 1am.. I understand the context
but since I am your age.. the titters came from thinking at my age.. late comes early. I am a night owl, but when it comes to being out.. I home and tucked in at a time my younger self would expect my old man self to be ha
So true! Unfortunately in our district full on MAGA kiss the ring would probably win right now. Ask the questions again in 2 years we might finally get some representation we can be proud of!
Thank you for such an informative and powerful read this New Year’s Day!! We’ve known Dan and been friends with his family for many decades. Wouldn’t it be great to have him shadow the politics of Congressman Jerry Solomon!!
President Carter was my first vote as well. His presidency almost exactly coincided with my four years in the service. I appreciate his not involving the country in any forever wars. His death also brings up for those not aware, the involvement of Reagan people to ensure that the hostages remained in Iran until Reagan’s inauguration. Politics may not be beanbag, but I’d hope most agree with how despicable that was.
If Stec becomes rep I hope he enjoys the possible looming civil war in the party between the wannabe tech oligarchs and the unwashed OG MAGA. The cosplay photo that appeared here a few days ago suggests what a political tool he actually is.
your response, I question a little: "It shows how far we have fallen in our trust of political leadership."
What you wrote is true, but I don't know if it is 'trust' I think our politicians have decided lying.. out and out blatant lies are okay. It's not trust so much as the knowledge that politicians can't answer a straight question. This isn't a gQped alone problem, though they are the biggest offender.. but I look at the Harris/Waltz ticket.
Once they really started running.. every answer was milk toast meant not to offend. I admire them for not lying, but was annoyed by their obfuscation.
Hmpy trmPEDOphile was just the opposite, He lied about everything.. sometimes in the same sentence contradicting what he was saying but those who had no problem with him lying, were happy for him to speak his mind (sadly it is a quickly declining mind)
You mentioned the 'gotcha' question or moment.. It started with asking Sarah Palin if she read magazines and which. Once that was defined as a gotcha, everything a politician didn't want to answer or was ignorant on that topic because a gotcha.
Rene Rountree did have a great, maybe top question. But no answer from dam deckstec would be sufficient - - > if he is lying. Which he likely will be. Because for gQpeds there is no consequence
What I find the sadest thing about the dam deckstec questions is, it seems like his constituents know about the issues than he does..much the same is true about most of Americans, in that we understand the issues more then the president-elect.
Stay safe and alert in NOLA as you observe the chaos. Your eyes and ears on the Bourbon St truck-terror investigation and game day repercussions are invaluable. Thank you.
Just heard The Sugar Bowl game will be delayed till tomorrow…more time to secure the site optimally for you and the thousands who still hope to attend the game, Ken.
I too voted for Carter as my first vote, growing up in Florida, he was a Georgia Governor and what we would call a good man. He took the whole south and some northern states to win with a tight electoral college vote of 297 and a 2% popular vote. Back in those days the south was completely dominated by the democratic party. I was a young mom during his time in office and he had his issues and by the time he ran for reelection his approval rating was low as he was primaried by Ted Kennedy which was unheard of by an incumbent president. I spent many hours in line on odd even days at the gas station and hearing Ted Koppel in his nightly report opening, how many days the American hostages were still being held in Iran, which were 444 days. We also moved out of Florida during that time because inflation was 14% and unemployment was over 7% so we were looking for more opportunity. I voted for Reagan in 1980 along with many others in what was a landslide election. Carter only received 49 electoral votes to Reagans 489 votes. Those are the reasons he was considered the worst president in our lifetime. He spent 50 years remaking his image with a lot of different activities in which some that helped and some that hurt. He never gave expensive speeches and created foundations that brought in millions. Most young people probably know so little about him since he was not on Twitter or Tic Tok. RIP Jimmy.
One of the things I appreciate about you Mr. Tingley... is you have traits that I think are important to life... and enjoying & appreciating life. (Traits I believe we share or hope we do)
Your curiosity drives you to do things, seek out new adventures and people. I would guess in your time in New Orleans (visiting and living) you have done more things that most people who move there, perhaps more than people who live there.
And not just visiting, but observing and taking note of.
I think I have mentioned my : "not ignorant twice" theory, were if someone asks me about something I don't know (or when you were at Bryce Canyon did you see).. I learn and don't make the mistake twice
If you look at ronnie reagan closely, he is on parr with hmpy trmpedophile, his lies and racism triggered fear in the racist of our country.. it is black horse (sorry for the bad pun) that trmPEDO has ride hard and put away wet.
think Willie Horton
Think Iran Contra
and think about how reagan's mind was gone.. and now so is hmpy trmPEDO's, but 70 million uneducated voters don't care
If the programs that Carter started would have been allowed to come to fruition, we would be driving vehicles that get 50 miles to the gallon or all electric cars. Our homes would be green and self-suffcient.. when reagan took the solar panels off the white house

I agree. The folks who submitted questions are engaged.
Thanks for the tip on the Gazette story.

I hate to be pragmatic, but the problem with Collins’ last campaign was she did not have funding. You can’t win these days without a lot of money.
Yes and no.
I want to say that no democratic candidate in the last few cycles have had much money, AND the DNC has given up on ny21
Hard to want to support the Democratic Party when they don't support us.
But that said... how much would a dem need to win against pos_tfnKKK when she has MILLIONS

I forwarded the article to Blake and he said he would check it out. Who knows what will happen but I can hope…..
Hope you were safely back in your apt. long before the mass casualty tragedy on Bourban St.

"The person that can answer them should be elected." / Not necessarily; this depends [as always] entirely on his, or her, answers...
So true! Unfortunately in our district full on MAGA kiss the ring would probably win right now. Ask the questions again in 2 years we might finally get some representation we can be proud of!
True, but just having someone answer the questions would be such a refreshing change from Stefanik.
Read the news this morning, and hoping you are safe with the horrifying news from New Orleans.
I am safe. I was near that end of Bourbon Street earlier in the evening, but home by 1 a.m.
Hoping you're safe n sound in New Orleans.
All safe. Thanks for asking.
Trust you weren’t downtown around 3 am.
I was there at 11 pm. Home by 1 am
Ken~

I too, am looking forward to answers to those questions to Dan Stec. I may add how he sees and feels about the influence of BIG $ like Elon musk..
thanks for including me

(Know who else is reliant on H-1B visas -- all of the hmpy trmPEDO hotels and restaurants... although he is so addle he doesn't know the difference between H-1B and H-2B {{}https://www.newsweek.com/donald-trump-foreign-workers-mar-lago-1902982})
I don't think you should talk about yourself like that and if you're so stupid you think you entered the room you're also a fool
This is not a room
And a guy like yourself and this is the best post of the day for you
Go back to school
Learn what a room is
Go to the mirror
And learn what stupid looks like
And when all is said and done try to downplay you're stupid and try to use facts
And then together research what you say so you don't look stupid and ignorant

Too many people are ignorant many times
One of the things people don't notice when they think about Jimmy Carter
º He was right
º He was moral
º He was a hero on many lives (look up his navy career)
Ask yourself why were the gas prices high? Hint pos_tfnKKK wold say he was a hero today
