No, mentally unstable it is, if facts mattered a whit to those folks, we wouldn't be here, but here we are. The entire Republican agenda is predicated on lies made up about Democrats, the "libs" the woke and such. Most of it patently untrue, the rest an extreme exaggeration of actual good policies. ( Limiting firearms to the unhinged = "coming for your guns" etc....Sensible immigration reform= open borders, you know the drill.
Politicization of the Zeldan “attack” points to a number of serious problems in the system. GOP like to claim they are defenders of police but in this situation it appears that Zeldin allies are in effect attacking the judgement and professionalism of the police. Because the local DA is a co-chair of Zeldin’s political campaign and was attending the event she recused from charging the suspect - who is presumed innocent. Police took a statement from the unemployed and drunken Iraq vet who had been attending this political rally for veterans. They filed a charge they thought was appropriate and released the suspect who appears to have no reason to flee and is not someone they would expect to commit further crimes. He seems like a guy who is going through some very bad times in his life and made a serious mistake while under the influence of alcohol. Why he was wearing a Hello Kitty style self-defense keychain is unknown but people do illogical things when they are drunk. Close observation of the video appears to back up his eyes explanation that he was not attempting an assault but merely trying to take the microphone away from Zeldin. Frankly, I’ve seen and been involved in situations of a similar nature in local politics. This guy seems not at all as threatening as someone like Mike Kibling of the North Country Deplorables, and while I was careful to prevent Kibling, his cohort, or others of similar from getting too close to a Dem candidate at one of our functions I was never overly fearful that he would be an actual physical threat. However, there were times I thought GF police were remiss in not charging Kibling when he put his megaphone within inches of protesters and shouted vile filth at them. I felt that went beyond reasonable free speech. I never heard a Republican official call for Kibling to be restrained in any fashion.
Uh oh! Breaking news on this … looks like the DA and her office didn’t get their stories straight and this whole thing is blowing up in their faces. Bottom line, Republicans jumped all over this story and threw the down on his luck Republican Iraq War vet under the bus - literally tried to make a federal case out of it - just so they could score political points against Gov Hochul. Don’t forget that Zeldin is a military guy himself and instead of sympathy for a fellow veteran who DID NOT HURT HIM, instead of saying “hey brother, let me get you some help” he said something like “I don’t care ( that he had a veterans cap) I took him down” and then when police charged the guy Zeldin was not satisfied that his fellow service members was not thrown in jail to rot. And honestly, if it had happened to me I would have asked police to dismiss any charges. https://www.timesunion.com/state/article/Monroe-County-DA-under-scrutiny-for-closeness-to-17327829.php
I agree whole heartedly and cant understand seeing this evidence time and time again of his type of his actions & lack of just plain common decency how they can't be affected and continue to stand by him - it baffles me.
JW-- "mentally unstable people live". Self-disgust; editorial crap ! And liked by KT !? Looks like difficult times for our country, and its young people. Note: Not a Biden or Trump supporter- Harry Truman would fill in amiably at this time.
I think that the trump signs and banners in the area help to point out where the mentally unstable people live. 🙂
Or perhaps those will n need of a fact-checking course.

I think Trump should be made accountable for everything he said and did and I hope the Justice Department is strong enough to act.
