Anyone can say anything online, true or not. Note that you cited no source for your claims. And the UPI article you linked to certainly doesn't support anything you're saying here.

Best to assume you're lying and wait for reliable and valid reporting

I doubt it matters to anyone what political party this guy belonged to. What matters are the people that were shot and/or killed. Violence is violence.

Sadly I KNOW that but just couldnt resist saying it. I know - troll. We dont have many, but there still are a few.

Regarding online "stuff" - Trevor Noah had Jon Stewart on his podcast. They covered so much & talked for an hour and a half. It was funny at times, serious most of the time but so informative to hear two guys sitting and talking about so many of the things going on today & from years ago. Took me away for a while.

You're right -- we don't see trolls here too often anymore. But some sneak through occasionally. For me, if people have opposing views on public policy and ideology and can express them rationally, that's fine. I've just had it, though, when people promulgate lies and other disinformation.

And even if the guy is a deranged person who is a registered Democrat, what would that prove? That crazy and violent knows no party. But if you want to play a game of who’s worse and keep score, I’d say today’s Republican party under Trump wins that one hands down.

even.. if....

a) almost always a republican... and I believe that the mentally ill seek something that makes them feel normal.. and that is the party of magAhole

b) we are talking about mental illness.. and there is clearly a party that wants to call people 'crazy' but do not want to do anything to help people with problems.. no help, no health care... what they do is call them crazy

c) gQpedos: = we need the proud boys, we need the mentally ill, we can't help them because if they lose their illness, their sickness... their ignorance, they will be democrats, seek out therapy and sell half of their 12 guns

After the GF peaceful demonstrations, lots of us drove to the Indivisible No Kings protest in Warrensburg. Estimates of 700 attendees, cooperative, friendly, and full of purpose. Soon a few pickups kept circling the streets w Trump banners, blasting music. Then a few more. Then a guy walked into the middle of the intersection unfurling a huge Trump flag. After a bit, the Sheriff showed up and asked him to move to the sidewalk. So, no outbursts, no conflicts. The Indivisible monitors in their No Kings t-shirts holding pool noodles(!) were great at keeping the crowds in order.

Thanks to all who turned out today for freedom!!

now they are saying that he was a registered republican... but to defend that.. I have (at one time) registered as a republican.. I am not, never have been.. but I thought I could vote for a change.

I mentioned this in another post... that we have to say 'allege' but generally speaking murderers come at the world with a libertarian (i.e. republican) position.

Sometimes all we can do is protest. It may feel as if it is not enough, but it is. The tide is turning.

I am not surprised. Not at all.

The rhetoric has been building for years.

Look at what happened overnight in Minnesota with two Democratic lawmakers targeted in their own homes. One and her spouse are dead. The other in grave condition.

Trump, Speaker Johnson and Mike Lawler have all condemned this attack on X.

NY 21's Stefanik remains silent.

What an utter disgrace she is.

I suspect Stefanik will eventually say it was Antifa or something ridiculous like that.

Nothing the Trumpies do shocks me anymore, but I'm taken aback this happened to Don, as much of a stand-up guy as any reporter I ever knew, a man of integrity.

Of all the people who were downtown for this guy to pick Don, he was very unlucky. Don's reputation is beyond reproach. Like so many I worked with at The Post-Star of the years, I never had a clue what their politics were. People will find that hard to believe, but it is true. We didn't talk about it.

Just plain WOW!!! I was right there and saw the police car drive up but it was happening on the circle was on the other side of where I was standing. We all wondered but heard it was a "Trumper" but once again, YOU, Ken gave us the story. YES, that white pick-up truck was really something with their repeated "visits" to the circle. I did not know about a substance being sprayed. These are truly frightening times but it just shows how much more we have to do. The crowd was delightfully overwhelm....wonderful, wonderful enthusiasm but we alllllll regretted that it has come to this and that we have to be truly forced by these circumstances to spend this much of our time on this earth in an effort to try and save our country.

I saw much of that altercation and have some video. It was very dystopian - the guy had been walking through the crowds with another man - he called us fags and moved around the corner. I followed him and caught a portion of it.

The eerie thing to me was we were all yelling lock him up....at that very moment I was struck with that detached surreal feeling. What have we come to?

Can we go back?

I dont think there's any way we go back to *before*. The division is even bigger now.

But aside from this incident, I took heart at the number of people out and very glad to see younger people there!

And of course the mainstays of our community who can always be counted on to show up.

One woman I talked to said she foresees a Civil War as the only way to tend the terrorism of Donald Trump. I could not muster a counter argument.

The thought of a Civil War has always been in the back of my mind due to the terrible division in our nation fueled by Trump and his supporters. It is awful to think about it, especially when you have family, relatives and dear friends who continue to remain supportive of Trump and no dialogue can change their minds.

Let's make it known when local companies, in this case ADIRONDACK PLUMBING, do this kind of stuff. Hopefully it will cost them business. I've got a few recent "Hometown USA" stories of my own that I will be sharing soon.

It's sad that some employees forget or don't realize that they represent their employer when in a work uniform or company vehicle. I know nothing about Adirondack Plumbing, but after today, I will always have a negative opinion of that business. Unless the owners make a public statement that they do not endorse that behavior and terminate the responsible employees.

Sorry to hear that there were any folks in Glens Falls willing to move beyond our mutually agreed (and legally protected!) freedom of speech and into assaults and illegal actions - which we also have laws to protect us from! Initial reports from the Saratoga Springs Flag Day Parade Saturday afternoon have been positive, with a larger than expected turn-out and respectful participants. All of us are entitled to our opinions - and we all have rights to express those opinions in speech and in writing. But when those actions move from words to personal harm we have laws to protect us - and all of us need to assure that those laws are upheld to protect us ALL... - CAMC, Saratoga Springs, NY
