"Another witness jumped in and clarified that it was Roger Stone who wrote the book, not Oliver Stone. It was then that Boebert looked confused before moving on."
Moral of the story: People who live in crass houses shouldn't throw Stones.
Emperor Nero fiddled while Rome burned while would be Emperor Trump goes off to Doral for LIV golf while the stock market burns! Yes, God Bless Senator Booker for his non-stop filibuster! Each Democratic Senator in turn should take to the Senate Floor and en masse all Congressional Democrats should walk from the Halls of Congress to the White House and to the House Speaker's office demanding impeachment proceedings begin immediately. We certainly can't depend on Trump's MAGA cabinet to declare him unfit. President Trump thrives on the principle of "one nation divisible" and sustaining that mission eliminating anything that represents diversity, equity and inclusion! Locally, the Regional Food Bank funds have been cut eliminating a couple hundred truckloads of food that help sustain our church's soup kitchen six days a week and the food delivery program while funds for Head Start are somehow "frozen!" As Representative Tonko observed yesterday, the spineless Republicans bury their heads in the MAGA sand while Trump continues with his rule by executive order rather than rule by law through Congress. Trump's speculative at best tariff theories are triggering reciprocal responses, threats of a recession and possible world depression and what does he care? What exactly is his endgame? Liked Obama's observation: "What would have been the response if I had done any of these (executive order) things?!
If you connect the dots, the HHS cuts make sense. The corporate power that gave rise to this government will never bring manufacturing jobs back to this country with environmental and worker protections as we’ve known them intact. They built overseas so they could pollute and pay dismal wages to a desperate labor force. Now they are working to create the same conditions so that IF they bring manufacturing jobs back to these United States, they won’t face a representative government that will enforce such hard fought rules and guidelines.
What I admire about Cory Booker is he didn’t rely on filler like reading the dictionary or anything. He actually spoke his thoughts and kept it up and made sense the whole time. You gotta admire his stamina!
I just got a fundraising email from the Democratic party that described a “People’s Cabinet.” They said they would bring together policy experts like Robert Reich, for example, and (to quote directly from the email), “speak directly with Americans at town halls, produce digital content to reach people across the platforms where they get their news, engage in rapid response to counter the lies and disinformation from the Trump Administration, and serve as thought leaders for the Democratic ecosystem on effective strategy and tactics in countering the worst of the Republican agenda.”
I have been reluctant to donate to them because they already have plenty of money and haven’t been using it wisely in my opinion. But I finally caved and donated $3, mainly because I know somewhere they are tallying up which fundraising pitches get results, and I want them to know action, not hand wringing, is what I’m willing to financially support!
Thank you for printing excerpts from Corey Booker’s eloquent, passionate oratory as he channeled John Lewis, MLK/other great patriots of the civil rights movement. In catching multiple live segments of his marathon inspiring speeches, I was spellbound witnessing his sustained energy.
I was also reminded of JFK’s inaugural quote…”Ask not what your country can do for YOU…but what YOU can do for your country!” It lead to the Peace Corps and other legislative acts which mobilized Americans to rethink their racist and pseudo-Christian stances…and neutralized some of the inborn hate bred in previous generations.
In some ways, today’s country-wide rallies/town meeting attendances/calling/writing elected local/state/federal officials is our own creation of an AMERICAN PEACE CORPS.
And just as countless young/retired Americans served foreign countries over the past 60+ years…teaching English, creating clean waterways, teaching improved agricultural skills, construction skills/other critical needs to sustain the lives of strangers…we need willing Americans of all ages to step up and help our own farmers/independent business owners/ and teachers/health care workers - on the front lines of our own country - to help us all survive the pervasive poisoning of our lives by trump and his GOP goons.
It reminds me* when you look at democrats (as corrupt and foolish as they can be a time) are always remembered and attacked for supporting rights of people..
and gQpublicans (without shame) are know for illegally empowering themselves and other rich people

Just a word of thanks to Ken for establishing The Front Page, and to Will for his weekly contributions. It’s a source of smart commentary on local and sometimes national politics (with some New Orleans color and local flora and fauna observations thrown in for good measure). But it’s more than that — it’s building a community where readers can share their thoughts, ideas, useful information, and yes, exasperation and frustration. Best of all, it’s a place where readers can share their personal stories that add some background and context to Ken’s and Will’s commentary. Excellent work!
Boebert may be known for her groping in public, but she is more well known for her lack of intelligence.. it is amazing how many gQpeds will vote for a gQpedos who couldn't pass a urine test, let alone an i.q. test
Filibuster : remember this about Corey Booker
ª he spoke of policy and things that affect his constituents *
ª his constituents who have been asking him to do MORE
ª he did not read from Eggs and Ham (as ted cruz did when taking food from children)
ª he spoke in the legacy of John Lewis
ª BUT Corey Booker also knew the record was held by strom thurmond a racist from South Carolina...
I am sure there is a republican racist who would like to bring the record back to the south
* I once called pos_tfnKKK's office and I told the manager, if she votes against the bill she was publicly against (I think it was the child care act) it would hurt a large portion of my community and mostly their children.. the woman o n the phone could not care less. She didn't give a rationally reason for pos_tfnKKK's vote (there wasn't one), or even a false emphatic concern. Of course.. shouldn't we expect this from pos_tfnKKK and her rich white family and staff?
But one needs to remember, if you are wealthy, even that you can benefit from.. to be sure millionaires like pos_tfnKKK knew the tariffs were coming and short sold their stocks
something people with meager income and savings don't have the means to do.

The people being fired are people that guard justice or do the work of preserving things we value in America (take care of National Parks, make sure we get social security checks, catch tax cheaters).
After the last several gQpublican regimens, back to gwbush we were in a financial crisis and each time it took a democrat most of his term to pull us out.
hmpy trmPEDO is pushing us into a financial crisis, but also destruction of the environment and rights , as well as an existential crisis of our democracy.
This is something we might never recover from.. and if we do, it will take more than six years.
Not only will many not be able to retire... the things hmpy trmpy is doing will possibly kill them before they are 70.
As the late great Canadian writer Crad Kilodney (“Blood-Sucking Monkeys From North Tonawanda,” “Sex Slaves of the Astro-Mutants”) wrote, “The way to make money in the stock market is to buy stocks when they are low and sell them when they are high.”
they almost don't need to.... what they are doing is making it so people who thought they were going to retire at 60-65, now will have to wait until hmpy is gone
It was pouring here from early morning. Trying to find ANY news of how the protests went locally. I hope the local news outlets werent afraid of getting wet! The protests were from 1 to 3, but nothing online!
The Spectrum station is showing clips of rallies in upstate NY cities/towns, and CNN and MSNBC is showing the larger cities across the country. 6 PM local news, then national news will show more.
Melania had to reschedule her “Garden Tours” to tomorrow as the thousands that descended on D.C. to protest her hubby disrupted her plans today.
It was a bit bone-chilling standing around the Civil War monument here in GF, but the downpour had downsized to drizzling by 4 PM…and the rally was well- attended by crowds with creative posters, and lots of cars honking their approval. (Only one young guy who expressed his disapproval as he sped by “flipping the bird” to us.)
Also - people in countries all around the world will be seeing these rallies and know we are not all Ugly Americans who wanted tRump to have a second chance to ruin our democracy …and endanger their countries’ security.
To me, and hopefully to millions of other Americans, Booker is a hero. He gave voice to all of us who have been frustrated by our inability to speak out against the horrific acts the Trump Administration has wreaked America. Someone needed to speak up, and Booker did, eloquently and forcefully. He appealed not only to democrats, but republicans whom he has great respect for. He acknowledged the good that Congress has done when working together. I hope it inspired others to speak out as well.

Oh, that is a good one.
Boebert illustrates the saying stupid is as stupid does!
Stand up, speak up. Each of us can do something.

Thank you Judith.

True that!
I want to hope what you say is wrong, but all signs are that you’re absolutely correct.
Just when you think Republicans can’t get any smaller or more petty, they want to ban pride flags? And I assume “pride” people are next? Sigh.
There it is…right or wrong!
Ken,
I know this is off topic but your face book account appears to be hacked.
I'm getting messages from somebody that follows the patterns of a hacker.
Could you send me screen shots. I've not heard of this.
How?
NM found your Gmail acct.
Thanks for the head's up. I believe it has been fixed.
Glad to hear

today (April 5)
is the day of a national protest

until we stop evil
{{ or until evil wins }}
every vote, ever protest is the 'most important' and/or our last
Our local rally is 4 PM in downtown GF. Wear foul weather layers. That last downpour an hour ago felt like ice pellets!
was raining in Saranac Lake, but appears to be clearing up... though cool
People talk about 'wind chill' but there should be a 'rain chill' wet and cold is tough
So true! 🥶 ☔️
