Ken, you've stated my frustration perfectly. George Ferone, head of the hospital board of governors, whatever that is, is doing the exact opposite of his head Doctor, kowtowing to Stefanik, who is too busy campaigning out of state and has never offered condolences to those who have suffered and died. Stec has shown his true colors and Simpson, well, proof of the gradual dumbing down of elected hacks.
My thoughts exactly. Our little story from this week. Went to Capital Rep. Must be vaccinated, show ID and wear a mask the entire time. Felt very, very safe. Called The Strand re a show we want to see there. We could wear a mask if we’d like! Canceled that one. When will we get it up here!! When?
The same Republicans who are mute on vaccinations would cry to the heavens to enable a 15 year old access to the same gun used in the Michigan school shooting. They’re not as pro-life as they’re made out to be.
Our congressional rep is as close to living outside the district as she can get.
Nailed it, Ken!! I have no doubt that politics is in play here, and even though I'm a registered Republican, I get the feeling that many Republicans who probably know better are silently sitting on their hands when they know what the answers are. What's even more concerning is that we seem to be developing a cavalier attitude toward the ultimate result, an attitude that seemingly equates with the idea that one or two deaths from this disease every few days is quite all right as long as we have our precious individual rights. I cannot help but shake my head at a philosophy wherein people say no to vaccines and mask-wearing in spite of the daily death toll... And on a related side note, Ken, have you thought about becoming a regular contributing columnist to "The Post-Star"? I know that in these times the paper is absolutely shorthanded. However, columns like these are too often lacking from our paper of record. Too many times, the silence from Cooper and Lawrence Street is deafening. Lee Enterprises seems to have done away with the position of Managing Editor at The P-S, but that doesn't mean our local paper isn't in desperate need of a "voice" that speaks out more regularly on subjects that truly matter in our community.
I sent an email to Rachel Seeber stating just this. I explained that back in 2020 Governor from a midwestern state scheduled Town halls in every county. He had a local doctor and minister speak at every town hall to answer questions. He did this because he believes citizens are more likely to believe local professionals than Washington DC . It was considered a successful event . Staff were available to give Covid vaccine shots. I suggested that each town could do the same if their town supervisors did an event in their town. I did not even receive an acknowledgment from R Seeber.
It would be nice if we had a leader advocating for vaccines but since more Republicans are opposed to vaccines, more Republicans are getting Covid. So for her, it would probably fall on deaf ears. It certainly is a thought tho.

Ken,
As Greg states below, you "Nailed it"!
Their constituents are dying. What do we hear from Elise, Betty, Dan, and Jim: ....."crickets."
Thanks, Ken.
