Great move, boycotting the Louisiana Legislature’s charity basketball game to protest the disgusting racist gerrymandering. *All* professional sports players should do the same. Just stop playing ball. Now. Until this gerrymandering trend is reversed.
So the Oswego Sheriff's can pull over and detain people who speak spanish surmising they are undocumented, yet those involved in Signalgate walk around freely. Trump destroys the history and beauty of DC calling it filthy and dirty. Journalists don't stand up to trump when he calls their fellow colleagues names or tells them they ask stupid questions. Few representatives stand up for their fellow members when they too are abused by this regime and gerrymandered out of their job. We are watching this administration destroy our norms, institutions, and humanity. We stand by waiting for someone, anyone to stop the madness. No one is coming. We have to do something, anything to try and salvage what once was and make it better.
I think many journalists do stand up to Trump, but what you are seeing in the White House Press Corps are "journalists" from right-wing media outlets who are not necessarily real journalists, just pretending to be one on TV.
We've needed a U.S. military coup for a long time. Diaper Donny and his minions have turned the U.S. into a third-world country, and many third-world countries have military coups, so why not? Think of how many elected, appointed and military personnel are violating their various oaths by condoning and supporting this tyranny.
The Downballot floated a radical move for the Virginia legislature to immediately lower the mandatory retirement age of its Supreme Court justices and re appoint a new court and revisit last months redistricting vote. Apparently this is legal. Its just whether state dems have the outrage and courage to try it and then stand strong against accusations of packing the court:https://www.the-downballot.com/p/how-virginia-democrats-can-overturn?utm_source=chatgpt.com
The "radical" move sounds fine to me - especially if you compare it to what the Repubs are actually pulling off right now! Do Democrats have the gumption to do that, tho?
There is a limit to the ability to effectively gerrymander as the redrawn districts dilute the vote in both directions. Voter turnout is everything and there comes a time when a whipped horse refuses the plow. $5 gas might be that time, and we may see $5 gas across much of America soon. That and the $1 billion ballroom, and the reflecting pool, and Ka$h Patel bourbon, and an unending war in Iran, and the need of businesses including farms to bring in j-1 but also H-1 and H-2 foreign workers, and the cost of a bag of groceries, and …
Donald Trump is hoping he can get the Chinese to bail him out - including on his failed negotiations with Iran - but I don’t see President Xi being willing to save Trump’s butt without major concessions to Chinese power and authority. I have no idea what Trump is willing to give up that is not really his to give but I expect a further weakened America coming out of Trump’s trip.
Xi, Putin, the Ayatollah, Kim of North Korea, Netanyahoooo all have Diaper Donny by the short hairs and are pulling hard. Just like the Berlin Wall falling, America is at its falling point under this orange monster. Voting in a Dem/independent majority in one or both houses of Congress will not solve much. Alternative solutions could get me in trouble if I named them publicly.
In case you missed it, 60 Minutes had a good piece on redistricting last night that included a lengthy (for TV), informative interview with Governor Landry of Louisiana. I had not seen him on the tube before. If interested, I am sure you can see the piece by going to the 60 Minutes site.
Sadly, so many of the articles you posted today are just the results of Project 2025 and the Heritage Foundation's takeover of Trump/MAGA movement with spineless REPs at the helm. The damage and long term changes that they tick off daily/weekly/monthly are scary but cumulative now. The US Debt has now surpassed our annual GDP. The reality is Trump and the top corporations and billionaires are looting the US Treasury and will leave a massive new amount of debt in a few years that will continue to destroy the middle class in America. Liz Cheney warned that Trump should NEVER get back in to the Oval Office. GUESS WHAT? Too late now.
One can only hope that all the gerrymandering, economic bad news, Epstein file failures, etc. will get ALL VOTERS out in November and cause massive shifts in power in both the House/Senate and many state and local elections. Short of that, we may be on the final slide to an Authoritarian takeover. Not a pretty sight IMO.
Diaper Donny has repeatedly said he won't leave office regardless of term limits and the voting public. I have no doubt he'll be true to his word this one time instead of all the lies that come out of his filthy mouth and tiny thumbs every minute of every day.
How long will it take to undo/remove all the tasteless, hideous abominations Trump has installed in our beautiful capital city? The tawdry ballroom, the paved-over rose garden, the plastic gold gewgaws all over the White House, the farcical, abusive row of presidential photographs with nasty labels, and perhaps that colossal arch obstructing a consequential landscape. Trump's assault on our Constitution eclipses his aesthetic crimes, but both demand prompt restitution.
On the top of my mind for candidates in the primaries is their position on immigrant justice. Disappointed in the weak support from Hochul on New York for All. The bill makes it illegal for local law enforcement to work with ICE and nullifies current agreements, formal and informal.
A canceled basketball game is nothing compared to the "60 Minutes" interview of racist LA Gov. Landry, chief negotiator for the takeover of Greenland (LOL), that exhibited the all-out bigotry in that state. The dimwit kept sloughing off responsibility for all that is wrong with his state onto SCROTUM, formerly SCOTUS, and the will of the people -- at least the 70 percent of Whiteys that dominate the population. The appetizer segment was an interview with the genocidal, murderous, rogue, terrorist Bebe Netanyahooooo -- with everything that came out of his filthy mouth a lie (probably where Diaper Donny got his training). I debated watching that propaganda piece, though I kept a barf bucket nearby. It's obvious Bari Weiss is using the program to boost her dark side and demise of CBS.
...thank you for this / & yes, you have our attention [as usual] / -remember the "sleepy Joe" presidency when you didn't have to pay [so much] attention because: we had a good man as president, with good people he appointed in the cabinet and everywhere on his team? / those Loos[er]iana magas know they would have got their a**es kicked by their Democrat counterparts in that basketball game; that they are upset about the cancellation is just another run-of-the-mill maga-republican lie [tip-off they are lying: are their lips moving?]...
Sadly, this is more American than we might care to admit. One of those Founding Fathers you reference, Elbridge Gerry, was the man after whom gerrymandering was named... all the way back in 1812.
And although the unrepentant former slave states are falling over themselves to racially gerrymander, the concept exists everywhere.
Remember in 2014 (?), the voters of New York passed a constitutional amendment requiring that legislative maps be drawn by a (pseudo) independent commission to make the lines fairer.
Yet the only time that commission actually did its work, the legislature rejected its maps and drew its own maps so badly rigged that they were struck down by the courts, who issued their own maps.
Now, NYS Dems want to abolish that to counter what fascists are doing in their states.
Speaking of this, the rodeo clown from Amsterdam running for Congress refused to participate in a debate because he said doing so would be "disrespectful" to Trump. Which is a surprising admission of transparency and candor of what everything else about him hinted at: that he was planning on being Trump's rep in DC and is happy to openly disrespect us constituents.
I got a robocall couple days ago from a "volunteer" with Smullen's campaign asking for my vote in the GOP primary against Tony Baloney. One slight problem: I'm not enrolled in a political party, I'm a true independent. Talk about a lazy campaign coordinator; we'll just call and irritate everyone in hopes we find Repuglican households instead of getting the contacts for GOP-enrolled citizens from party leaders in the counties. Maybe Smullen can follow in the footsteps of Tony Baloney and hire a person awaiting trial for murder in another state (Baloney hired such a person to conduct his social media).

We don’t have rulers in this country. We have representatives.
“We are our choices.” - Jean-Paul Sartre
We need to chose better.

A big crew of trolls on that site!

Remain in your present location, citizen! Enforcement is on its way. Resistance is useless.
Another great issue. Thx.

I tape it every week so I will take a look. Landry definitely is trying to be the "next Trump."
I saw it. Landry is a racist, law-breaking, lying POS. His time is better spent trying to wrest Greenland away from Denmark. LOL.

Yes, it does not look bright for us.

In addition to all the guilded junk on the walls and editing of the museum exhibitions.
