I am on Post now, one of the Twiiter alternatives, Reuters posts there; some of their stories are free, some you buy with points. Some stories are more points than others. That's an interesting way to do it; buy the individual articles. I like Reuters.
I'm on Post as well. I read news stories and pay for them with points. I don't know if it's an alternative to subscription but I think it's worth a try.
Excellent ~ I have read the Kristof column and have been a Kristof follower/reader for years. Have also read the books that he and his wife, Sheryl WuDun have authored.

Is this available as a mobile app?
Yes, that's exactly what it is. It is still in beta, so you might get waitlisted, but the wait-list moves. Go to Post.news, I think it is, to sign up.
The waitlist is gone. Just sign in and you're good to go.
Thank you for the information.
