After taking a couple weeks off to visit my son in Texas - I actually did write three or four newsletters while I was there - I got back to writing this week. If you missed them, here is a recap:
On May 27, I wrote about an elderly couple we met in Texas who were grappling with selling their beautiful home in the suburbs. It was one of those moments sitting on their back porch on a glorious spring evening that makes you think about your own future, past and mortality.
On Memorial Day, the sound of horseshoes returned to my house with my brother and I pitching shoes for the first time in many years. I hope the next time is not as long.
On Thursday, I gave the backstory of former Post-Star sportswriter Jim Tracy became a writer and just published his first book on serial killer Robert Garrow.
On Friday, I wondered if the city of Glens Falls and the community at large was ready to embrace Robin Barkenhagen’s idea for a marijuana dispensary in the city.
And on Saturday, I wondered why the supervisor of the town of Lake George - Dennis Dickinson - could possibly be against new sewer regulations for properties along the lake. The DEC closed Million Dollar Beach Saturday after high levels of E.coli were detected. And on Sunday, The Post-Star editorialized that the county needed to move forward with the regulations. This one drew lots of commentary from others in the community as well. It is an issue that needs to be addressed.
I thank all of you for subscribing to the newsletter. I hope you are enjoying it. I’d like to build up a broader readership for the future. I’m hoping each of you will reach out to five of your friends online, share this email and the link below so they can subscribe to the newsletter. If you want, just send me the email addresses and I will sign them up.
